Turnover rose to 5.2 billion dollars from 4.39 billion in the first quarter of 2003 and in a statement released in New York by News Corp, Murdoch expressed his delight.

News Corp. is one of the world's largest media businesses with newspaper, television, film and Internet operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Latin America and Asia. It recently added the DirecTV satellite network in the United States to broaden its global offerings.
Among its various units, cable television operating income rose 51 percent, the company said, citing strong advertising growth at Fox News and higher affiliate revenues at regional sports networks.
Television showed a 25 percent increase in operating income on the strength of its US Fox network advertising revenues and rises in income from its pan-Asian satellite channel, STAR TV. These came mainly from India.
