Bush backs off from concessions to Israel

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Bush, responding to complaints in the Arab world, urged Israel on Thursday to withdraw from the territory it captured in the 1967 Mideast war.

After meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan, Bush did not repeat the assurances he gave Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon last month that he supports Israel's retention of some settlements on the West Bank as part of an overall agreement with the Palestinians.

Who's the flip-flopper again?

8. He'll just flop again - or are we up to another Flip now?
He'll say whatever pops into his head (SUCH a statesman!)
...but it sure is funny watching him hem & haw until SOMETHING enters that vacuum of a brain of his! :D

I'll bet Blair nearly had a heart attack when he heard Bush backing Sharon & the settlements!
BOOsh will betray Blair in the long run though... he doesn't care about the UK more than he cares about his PNAC! And Israel is their closest buddy & in their long-range plans.
God Help Us.

We need to get Bush OUT!

10. Flip flop? More like...
Flailing around indiscriminately in every possible direction with no logic, reason, or thought involved.

Sharon's not worried. He'll just wait for the next insane alcohol- and drug-fuelled outburst.

11. At least Bush is flipflopping in the right direction.
unlike Kerry who is flipflopping in the wrong one, and has supported Bush's orginal position on settlements, not to mention backed off sending Carter and Clinton to mediate, as well as backing off the idea that the security fence should be on the green line.

U.S. Retreats From Bush Remarks on Sharon Plan

The Bush administration on Tuesday joined in a high-level diplomatic statement that stressed that the key issues dividing Israelis and Palestinians must be negotiated by both sides, just weeks after President Bush pronounced that Israel could keep some West Bank settlements and Palestinian refugees should not resettle in Israel.

May 5th:

Bush Renews Support for Gaza Pullout Plan

"The prime minister of Israel took a political risk, obviously he did, I mean his own party condemned it but that doesn't mean that it condemned the policy. However, I think it was the right thing for him to do and we support peace in the Middle East and we support the vision of two states living side by side in peace," Bush told Alhurra television.

19. flip, flop, flip, flop
This guy has flip-flopped more this year than Kerry has in 30 years. Has changed his mind several times re: Israel alone. Now changing his mind about drug imports. Watch for more pressure on him and subsequent reversal re: stem cell research. Flip, flop, keep the fundies happy, bow to pressure from the rest of the world. Jackass.

21. What a stupid jerk!
This is more evidence that Dubya is not the hidden genius that some allege.

But it puts the kibosh on the argument that he is simply Cheney's, or anyone else's, puppet -- no puppetmaster would let this yahoo run around and make the pronouncements he does.

He's just the incompetent scumbag we always knew him to be.

This has to do with the pictures. He has been told to throw the Arab world a bone to attempt to re-establish American credibility. This is just political theater.

24. If Kerry should flip-flop on anything, it should be on the Sharon plan
Who's the flip-flopper again?

Endorsing Sharon's land grab of the West Bank would have been the biggest blunder in US foreign policy had it not been for the Iraq torture revelations.

Meet the Press (NBC News) - Sunday, April 18, 2004

MR. RUSSERT: On Thursday, President Bush broke with the tradition and policy of six predecessors when he said that Israel can keep part of the land seized in the 1967 Middle East War and asserted the Palestinian refugees cannot go back to their particular homes. Do you support President Bush?

SEN. KERRY: Yes.

MR. RUSSERT: Completely?

SEN. KERRY: Yes.
