Army Reservist Who Served in Iraq Arrested After Police Find Wife's Body in a Van

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - An Army reservist who returned from Iraq several months ago was arrested after police found his wife's body in a van near the couple's apartment.

Matthew James Denni was arrested Saturday as he camped along the Washougal River, east of Vancouver.

The body of 37-year-old Kimberly Faye Denni was found in the trunk of a van in Battle Ground, about 10 miles north of Vancouver. She died of a gunshot wound to the neck, Police Chief Ronald H. Johnson said.

The marriage was troubled and there was no immediate indication that wartime stress was involved in the death, Trimble said. The military beefed up its postwar counseling programs after three soldiers from commando units at Fort Bragg, N.C., were accused of killing their wives in the summer of 2002 after returning from Afghanistan.

4. just another case of "frat boy pranks"?
the violent tendencies toward the "forever" resolution of killing someone that you can regard as the "enemy" has nothing to do with it, right?

5. I know someone who's dealing with a reservist now.
Trying to figure out how to ambush the kid into getting psychological counseling at the VA. Kid can't sleep for days at a time, disappears for hours that can't or won't be accounted for, can't settle down and concentrate well enough to even consider looking for work. Not old enough yet to drink in a bar -- few months until that happens, but they're worried about how it'll go when it does.

They're lying about the counseling, too, or at least misrepresenting it -- this kid was at an intake center for a week, then back in his family's home. Reservists get little to no counseling coming out, or at least, this one didn't. Don't know if it was offered and refused or simply not offered, but it certainly isn't an integral part of it. Not that it might have made that much difference -- but I'd really rather they at least made an effort to find out how twisted these kids are before I have to deal with them on the street, thankyouverymuch!
