VOA radio reports CHeney ordered Halliburton contracts personally
The Voice of America just reported receiving proof that Cheney personally oversaw and controlled the deals which gave Haliburton its Iraqi no-bid contracts.
Even though his press office denied it, docs have turned up with his name as author.

When the GAO tried to investigate, the SecDef ordered the investigation stopped - on the basis of national security.

33. Don't look now, but so are the CIA, DIA, FBI, DOJ, and the large....
...faction of senior military officers that have gone public against Rummy.

They have ALL leaked information damaging to the NeoCons, and they continue to do so to this very day. For a variety of reasons, they all have an axe to grind against the NeoCons.

Here's more info on the VOA and its' parent organization:

37. I understand your skepticism about VOA but ...
They are fiercely independent and have done a good job keeping their distance from political forces. I've listened to them off and on for years and they have been reliably accurate.

Yes, they are a government entity but their independence is still intact.

This is going to be huge. Once the rest of the country understands that this unnecessary, illegal, unprovoked aggression in Iraq was chiefly influenced by neocon lusts for more and more money and power and NOT US SECURITY maybe they will have enough sense to be outraged at the loss of great American lives, and the lives of thousands of innocent Iraqis, as well as the hardships it has caused numerous families here and in Iraq and maybe they will vote this regime out of office.

But watch out for a 'set up.'

13. Once again....HAL $9 July 2002 now $28.24
Cheney KNEW that Halliburton would garner massive reserves of cash by going to war with Iraq. Enough to handle the Asbestos claims aquired as a result of the Halliburton aquisition of Dresser Industries in 1999. Cheney was then CEO of Halliburton.

Dresser went public in the 30's with Prescott Bush Chairman of the Board.

Like the Cheney press office is going to say "Oh yeah we did that. Next question?"

All that matters is we got Saddam, who personally piloted all those planes into the WTC and the Pentagon on 9/11.

BTW, no link on VOA's website re: the Cheney documents. Just the story of how Cheney denies having anything to do with Halliburton's contract...

All I see at http://www.voanews.com/article.cfm?objectID=27C1BE19-3EB1-4B3C-A6B045F424095F36 is a reference to the report of the email, not any new information. If there's nothing more than this, it's still big, but VOA hasn't added any fuel to the fire.

19. I spoke to someone this weekend who works in the Pentagon
who believes Bush is the worst thing that's happened to this country in a long time. This person is a confirmed Republican.

More interestingly I was told that there are a lot of career people in the Pentagon, the CIA & the State Dept. who would love nothing more than to see Runsfeld, Cheney et al gone. Various people in these organizations have, or know of seriously damaging information for Bush and there are more than a few people determined to reveal it and use it one way or another. This person also said that Aby Ghraib goes all the way to the top.

I realize this sounds very vague and I don't know any details but the general impression I got was that this person isn't b.s. Everything I've been hearing & reading about suggest that this is the case.

One of the reasons the White House is in such disarray, is that some people in the WH have already figured out that the hammer is going to drop in any number of areas.

Why...why George will just have to do something about it. You know, like he did about Chalabi when he found out he was a traitor.

George has been horribly abused by those he trusted. But he is brave and noble and will clean house for America.

According to Pravda:

Hackers found evidence of US Vice President Dick Cheney"s corruption

06/02/2004 18:59

Vice president of the USA Dick Cheney used the war in Iraq to gain profitable contracts for Halliburton company whose executive director he was before taking the office in the White House.

Unidentified hacker broke Pentagon"s mail programs and submitted the correspondence to the Time magazine. This mail is the evidence of the Vice President's involvement in Halliburton"s signing a number of contracts for restoration Iraqi oil industry

45. The Paper Trail
Did Cheney Okay a Deal?

Vice President Dick Cheney was a guest on NBC's Meet the Press last September when host Tim Russert brought up Halliburton. Citing the company's role in rebuilding Iraq as well as Cheney's prior service as Halliburton's CEO, Russert asked, "Were you involved in any way in the awarding of those contracts?" Cheney's reply: "Of course not, Tim ... And as Vice President, I have absolutely no influence of, involvement of, knowledge of in any way, shape or form of contracts led by the Corps of Engineers or anybody else in the Federal Government."

Cheney's relationship with Halliburton has been nothing but trouble since he left the company in 2000. Both he and the company say they have no ongoing connections. But TIME has obtained an internal Pentagon e-mail sent by an Army Corps of Engineers official—whose name was blacked out by the Pentagon—that raises questions about Cheney's arm's-length policy toward his old employer. Dated March 5, 2003, the e-mail says "action" on a multibillion-dollar Halliburton contract was "coordinated" with Cheney's office. The e-mail says Douglas Feith, a high-ranking Pentagon hawk, got the "authority to execute RIO," or Restore Iraqi Oil, from his boss, who is Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz. RIO is one of several large contracts the U.S. awarded to Halliburton last year.

The e-mail says Feith approved arrangements for the contract "contingent on informing WH tomorrow. We anticipate no issues since action has been coordinated w VP's office." Three days later, the Army Corps of Engineers gave Halliburton the contract, without seeking other bids. TIME located the e-mail among documents provided by Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group.

Cheney spokesman Kevin Kellems says the Vice President "has played no role whatsoever in government-contract decisions involving Halliburton" since 2000. A Pentagon spokesman says the e-mail means merely that "in anticipation of controversy over the award of a sole-source contract to Halliburton, we wanted to give the Vice President's staff a heads-up."
<snip>

This was probably posted earlier but I couldn't find it.

Good heavens! Reading the email, the DoD testimony (cited in Waxman's letter), and the statements from Cheney's office creates a strong impression that some folks are lying their sorry little butts off.
