FBI Probes Disclosures to Chalabi: Newsday (New Info)
"Intelligence sources said the FBI is focusing on a small group of U.S. officials, particularly from the Defense Department, who worked with Chalabi on a regular basis and who had the Special Compartmented Intelligence clearance required for reading communications intercepts."

"Newsday disclosed last week that the Defense Intelligence Agency concluded in a recent audit that Iran also had been passing disinformation to the United States through the Iraqi National Congress."

6. Feith
or one of those who works directly beneath him. Don't know how frequent the contact with Wolfie and Chalabi was.

8. I think it's Feith, too.
And it seems that I heard that somewhere, maybe from someone who was on "Democracy Now!" today, but I won't swear to it, because I was barely awake when the show was on.

5. Gotta be Michael Rubin
Been following clues and reporting them on other threads. Josh Marshall says it's a Rumsfeld protege who is an Iran expert and compared Chalabi to Muhammad. That's Rubin. Also found evidence that the Hill is abuzz with rumors that Rubin is being questioned by the FBI.

7. Right after Chalabi's house was raided
Rubin was quoted in an article somewhere (saw it on DU) saying that the whole exercise was merely to give Chalabi some street cred with Iraqis by making it appear he was having a fallout with the Americans.

Here we go:

Neocon Lets Cat Out of Bag
Robert Dreyfuss
May 19, 2004
Michael Rubin—a young staffer at the American Enterprise Institute who’s just left the Pentagon, where he played a small role as a neocon cog in the Office of Special Plans war machine—let a herd of cats out of the bag about his favorite Iraqi phony, Ahmad Chalabi of the Iraqi National Congress.
...

"By telegraphing that he is not the favorite son of America, the administration will bolster him, showing he is his own man."

In other words, it’s all a big con game. The still-neocon-dominated Pentagon—which this week stopped funding Chalabi’s INC —is playing its last card, hoping that it can boost Chalabi’s sagging fortunes by pretending to sever ties with him. That, the neocons hope, will allow Chalabi to strengthen his ties to Sistani, the king-making mullah who, they hope, holds Iraq’s fate in his wrinkled hands.

Hmm...if Rubin was the one who blabbed to Chalabi, this theory of his of a big con game to give his friend Ahmed credibility sounds like a maniacally desperate attempt to rationalize from someone in a raw panic. Nevermind the fact that you can't very well fool the Iraqi people if you tell them about it first...:eyes:
