Kerry blames Bush administration for "intelligence failures"

INDEPENDENCE, United States (AFP) - Democratic presidential contender John Kerry (news - web sites) said, after the resignation of CIA (news - web sites) director George Tenet, that the US administration should take responsibility for the "significant intelligence failures" under Tenet. snip

The Massachusetts senator, who is campaigning for the November 2 presidential election against President George W. Bush (news - web sites), said: "I have known George Tenet for many years, and I wish him the very best. He has worked extremely hard on behalf of our nation, and we are grateful for his effort.

"There is no question, however, that there have been significant intelligence failures, and the administration has to accept responsibility for those failures."

Kerry added: "This is an opportunity for the president to lead. As I've said for some time, we must reshape our intelligence community for the 21st century and create a new position of 'director of national intelligence' with real control of all intelligence personnel and budgets."

1. Bush can deny this with certainty...
What never existed can never have failed.

3. No writer should ever put "Bush" in the same sentence as "intelligence".
It's an automatic oxymoron.

2. Why can't we just call it Espionage
Intelligence, in this case, really doesn't fit.

4. So when does Kerry remind us all about the "cherry-picking" and
how Bush insisted on bending/ignoring the info in order to justify his war?

Kerry's statement and prior calls for Tenet to go sound like he's facilitating the scapegoating of the CIA....
