Ansel Adams on Ronald Reagan
My experience with Ronald Reagan was negative from the start.

As I write, he is in the fourth year of his first and, hopefully, last term of office in the White House.

This character has been a persistent source of concern for millions of Americans since he was elected governor of California.

As governor he was remote, except to the favored few.

I believe he did chiefly what he was advised or ordered to do by the wealthy ruling factions to which he was so beholden.

1. Ansel Adams had a gift for seeing what others could not
One of our greatest environmentalists ever. He was a mighty oak, towering over the weed called Ronald Reagan.

2. And it seems his vision
was not limited to photography.

He clearly saw the picture with regard to reagan.

5. "If you've seen one redwood, you've seen them all"
I suppose, now than Ansel Adams has taken so many pictures of them, we can cut them all down.

6. OH, I remember what ol' Pruneface did to the Steel industry...
Western PA, 1982...

Ronnie let foreign countries dump their cheep steel here and all the mills closed in Western PA for good. Millions of men were forced to take lower wage jobs (IF they were there), there were a lot of suicides and others left PA for good. All the time ol Pruneface kept bullshitting that he was Pro Life

Pruneface was a phony and he died a fake and a god-damned fraud. He got what he deserved!

7. Whew
I was out of town in Berkeley all last week with no internet access - and NPR was on non-stop fawning mode after the news broke. I just saw George Stephanopolis present a :puke: inducing piece on Reagan. I am so glad to be back at DU - I was going crazy without it.

8. We saw through him when he was governor
Another little gem he was responsible for:

Don't forget he invented the "cruel joke" in politics. There was a movement intended to help mental patients by moving them out of huge institutions into half-way houses when RR was governor. He used it as an excuse to close the hospitals and provide no alternative. People were just put out on the streets to fend for themselves. He claimed it was what mental health professionals had been recommending. Which, of course, was the opposite of what people had been trying to achieve.

He spent his whole time as governor railing about welfare cheats, and you know what color people he was talking about. He also put down the free speech movement in Berkeley with violence. He was instrumental in searching for commies on the Berkeley campus.

He was a dreadful governor and worse president.

9. He was a heinous governor
Anybody who had any association with the University of California system at that time knows it. Just like all Republicans, his goal was to destroy education.

I'm glad I don't have TV. I'm sure I would be puking right now from all the "tributes." This morning I heard NPR talking about how he resolved the hostage situation in Iran!!!!!

:wtf: with that?

14. Ansel Adams was brilliant.
neocon radicals propped that senile old bastard up for 8 years as President, and they are doing the same thing with the idiot that we now have there. They knew Reagan's mind was going when he was first elected and they knew * had no mind. Ruling factions are running the show.

15. I lived in CA for awhile when he was Governor.
I could never believe his transformation to Pres. I remember him in CA as a frowning, angry, mean, and vile person for his presentation and policies. He was always rebuking most of the populace.

It always seemed to me that they must have either brainwashed him and fed him some kind of drugs to make him into this smiling, joking, saintly figurehead - of they sat him down and told him to drop the mean and frowning.

Well, his policies were still vile as Pres., but deliverd with a smile.
