Pentagon ignored its info, CIA says
THE GUARDIAN , LONDON
Sunday, Jun 06, 2004,Page 7

Ahmad Chalabi, the leader of the Iraqi National Congress (INC), came under further pressure from Washington on Friday when it was reported the US intercepted an Iranian intelligence cable nine years ago which discussed a meeting with him in northern Iraq.

Chalabi, who was supported by the Pentagon during the Iraq invasion, has been accused by US intelligence officials of passing secrets to Tehran this year.

Former intelligence officials have pointed to the intercept as evidence the INC leader had longstanding ties to Iranian intelligence. They say the CIA informed the Pentagon of its suspicions but was ignored.

people who are "leakers"--will continue to show how their info was ignored or misused by the Bush cabal.....

4. What's tragic ...
The average current affairs aware moderate knew at the time that the Intelligence was being *cooked.* Remember our 1 million strong "focus groups" GWB automatically dismissed and the fact that their closest neighbors told Cheney, "This is a very bad idea (invading Iraq). If you want to do some good here (Arab controlled Middle East), how 'bout help convience the Israelis' and Paletinians' to please stop killing each other first?" :P

But no, BushCo. and the Pentagon Civilians would hear none of that and controlled both the Intelligence vetting and war planning. A number of Generals were dismissed who said we needed 300,000 troops on station from day one to "keep the peace."

The Bush administration has disrespected both the CIA and the guidance of the original Military Pentagon advisors. They replaced the CIA with Chalabi's expatriates and wannabes, and purged the dissenting military personel at the Pentagon with spring butt "yes men" to to anything Rummy and Wolfowitz commands.

Where does the lion's share of the fault for *cooked inteligence* inappropriate promotion lie? IMHO One man = Vice President Dick Cheney.

6. The Game is on.
BushCo is making a huge attempt to smear the CIA.
Yeah, Tenet bootlicked and went along with the bogus presentation
of Powell's crap to the UN. Tenet was seated right behind Powell on purpose to show the world that he supported the presentation. They all knew the intell was bogus but damnit they wanted to own Iraq. The onus falls on The Office of Special Plans. This is why Tenet and his deputy were fired. It is an attempt to keep the heat away from Rumsfailed and Cheney who were in charge and still are.
