Toby Keith, Ted Nugent Perform in Iraq
Sun Jun 6, 2:20 PM ET

BAGHDAD, Iraq - More than 500 soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen crowded around a stage at a U.S. installation to hear country star Toby Keith (news) and 1970s rocker Ted Nugent (news).

"You guys are doing a great job over here," Nugent told the audience Saturday.

It was one of several stops in Iraq (news - web sites) for the pair, who are visiting Iraq as part of a USO tour.

The only one missing was Gene Simmons. Would've been like a low budget "3 Tenors."

Talentless wankers desperately playing the jingoism card.
Both are unlistenable now.

Too bad about nugent, "Journey to the Center of Your Mind" is one of my favorite 60's tunes. He didn't age well. tk always sucked.

... Maybe he should enlist and go hunting some terrorists. Oh, I'm sorry, only POOR people should be made to hunt other people.

Typically, can't back up his braggadocio in a real world situation.

27. Turn him loose on the streets over there with his favorite weapons.
I keep reading how much he loves to hunt with a bow and arrow and a long knife. Let him hunt some Iraqi insurgents with a bow and arrow and a long knife, then. I bet they don't run as fast as whitetail deer. Of course, whitetail deer aren't armed ...

concurred! I personally saw him say this on, 'Daughters of Rockers' (or some title like that.)

19. What????
Please more info if you have some. I have never heard this, but it would not surprise me.

I got the shock of my life tonight watching the Most Metal Moments on VH1 when they said Steven Tyler had an affair with a girl for 3 years that started when she was 14!! Even worse, her parents granted him guardianship of her, and he broke it off with her when she was 17, but until then he was her legal guardian.

Apparently this was common knowledge, but I never heard it before. Guess you have to get them before their musical tastes mature.

Regarding Moby Teeth, he really marginalized himself with that stupid song. Natalie will go down as the one who stood for what is right, and he will go down as a hillbilly nazi wannabe.

Edited on Sun Jun-06-04 11:33 PM by dArKeR
immediately posted it on the DU. So it must have been in GD? Or go search through that show, 'Rocker's Daugters, Where are they now' or something like that.

I've just tried but the Du 'Advanced Search' is down now cause we're overloaded.

22. M. Jackson, Black Men, only warrant DA investigations even though
Nugent confessed to it in the TV interview and his daughters statements are supporting witnesses for the prosecution (and all on tape.) In America, all you need to be is White and Repukelican to NOT be prosecuted.

30. For years, Nuge told the story (and quite proud of it, actually)...
Edited on Mon Jun-07-04 04:42 AM by Enraged_Ape
that he avoided the draft by wearing the same clothes for weeks and pissing and shitting in them. He showed up for his physical acting insane and reeking of caked-on excrement.

He stopped telling this story, oh, within the last two or three years.

Neocon. Chickenhawk. You don't find one without the other.

and get an up-close-and-really-personal acquaintance with Abu Ghraib prison?

23. Ted Nugent Draft Dodger
"Q: Ted Nugent Served in Vietnam? A: False. For all his right wing rhetoric and tough talk during the Gulf War, Terrible Ted was a yellow-livered draft dodger. In fact Ted went to great lengths to fail his army physical. He fasted for a week and drank pot after pot of coffee to drive up his blood pressure. He didn't bathe for weeks and showed up with a turd in his pants and another in his hair. Uncle Sam found Ted unfit for military service. Wouldn't have been a cryin' shame if that incredibly talented rocker had died in battle? I think Ted knew that the future of rock depended on him and Vietnam was just too big a risk to take."

31. I'm not sure that's a bad thing
unless of course the show was billed as a family event, which it probably was considering Mormons went to it. The Taliban are a repressive, intolerant bunch, worthy of the gesture. For killing homosexuals, oppressing women, and tearing down 5000 year old ancient statues because they were "Pagan icons", I give a cheerful middle finger to the Taliban and all their Fundy brothers, of all religious varieties.

What I hate about Keith was his suggestion that anyone who protested the Iraq War just didn't care about 9/11. Such an ignorant bs argument should have been contemptible by even the most brain-dead listener, but sadly it came to represent the entire rethuglican argument for war. I had heard Keith was having second thoughts about the War, but if he could tour with Ted "Chickenshit" Nugent than I can only imagine he's suppressed such "bad thought" and returned to the path of Rightousness.
