N.Y.'s Spitzer: Won't Settle Grasso Suit
By Jake Keaveny

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer said on Tuesday that he was no longer prepared to negotiate an out-of-court settlement with former New York Stock Exchange (news - web sites) Chairman Richard Grasso regarding his contentious $188 million pay package.

Speaking at a New York City conference hosted by Money magazine, Spitzer said he had made numerous attempts to negotiate with Grasso prior to filing a complaint last month, but was met with a "brick wall.

"No way, no how," Spitzer said. It is "absolutely inconceivable that I will settle it now. We can win this case."

The statements are the latest round in a battle that has been played out in the public sphere.

2. He'd be better as US Attorney General. MSFT, AOL, Enron, et all will piss
their pants. Besides, Schumer is looking seriously at running for Governor. I can't see either of these guys challenging the other in a primary.

3. Even better!
I'd love to see Spitzer in a national role. He's got the guts to really get something done.

4. Spitzer also has the financial sophistication to see right through
dishonest accounting, self dealing and self serving Boards, and plain old stealing. I'll bet that MSFT is contributing quite a bit to re select shrub. I've sort of assumed from day 1 that, whichever Dem wins, Spitzer is first choice for A.G. Nice change of pace after four years of Ayatollah Ashcroft.

5. Kerry REALLY needs to get Eliot Spitzer in the Atty. General's spot
....now that Bush is going down.

The next few months are going to be the "burning bush" from hell. There are so many criminal investigations going on around this administration that there's no way they'll be able to pull out of the mess they're in...a mess of their own making, I might add.

Eliot Spitzer is the "law & order" guy we need in the Atty General's office NOW! The best Atty General of any state, EVER. I hope someday we have him on the Supreme Court.

:kick::kick:
