3 jailed for school torture
Hildesheim - Three students were jailed on Wednesday for repeatedly torturing and sexually humiliating a classmate in a case that has shocked Germany.

Six others were sentenced to suspended terms and community service.

The three, aged from 16 to 18, were sentenced to juvenile detention terms ranging from 15 months' to 18 months', said court spokesperson Jan-Michael Seidel outside the children's court in Hildesheim, northern Germany.

I wonder if the more of this will happen because of the example of Bush and GOP leadership?

1. horrifying
We should not be glorifying in the evidence of how Bush' government's acceptance and promotion of torture has caused more suffering around the world. If you travel and live overseas, you get so much more information that you can't believe Americans allow themselves to be censored. Our allies are furious and we need to retore our relations. After January with President Kerry, we will become a moral force again.

2. I truly believe when Kerry becomes
president we will see many of the European leaders beating a path to his door. Europeans do not wish to become our enemies and are able to differentiate between GW and the American people. I just wish we didn't have to wait until November. There have been so many scandels related to this administration I imagine Europe is wondering when we will awaken. There is enough for impeachment right now, but the Repubs rule both congressional houses and would not do it. I don't believe for a minute that they really represent their constituencie, just themselves.

3. Horrifying, not Glorifying
That Bush* has empowered the bullies all over the world is
certainly not something to celebrate.

4. At least they were punished...

My mom was watching Oprah today and I overheard something about a similar incident in LA where some students apparently sodomized another student in a sports team. The coach apparently didn't do anything about it, though I think he knew or something like that...(I'm not sure of the details cuz I wasn't actually watching the show)...

But what was disturbing was the fact that the town was "divided" over the incident, meaning many didn't support the student for speaking out...and many thought the coach was being "unfairly treated".

Somewhat similar to the prison scandal. No one will take responsiblity for such disgusting and humiating behavior. It seems like this sort of bullying and cruel behavior is more common than it would be liked to be believed...
