The venerable but bankrupt company has eliminated more than 100 people since early spring. A Sure Fit official said Wednesday that it will lay off many more by the end of autumn.
Liz Mandracchia, senior vice president for marketing and brand development, said the company plans on letting half of its work force go before the layoffs are over.
The company employed 675 before the layoffs started. Most of the eliminated positions are located in this region.
Ken Guerin, the company's vice president for human resources, said labor law requires those affected by layoffs to get 60-days' advance notice. He said not all workers had gotten the notices yet.
