Bush leaves G8 facing bad political news
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/g8_summit_bush_vote

US President George W. Bush (news - web sites) staged a show of support for his Iraq (news - web sites) policy and Middle East reforms at the G8 summit, but his reelection bid looked vulnerable, five months before the vote.
But the violent aftermath of the March 2003 invasion continues to be a drag on Bush's hopes of winning a second term in the November 2 elections in the face of a tough challenge from Democratic Senator John Kerry (news - web sites).

The Times found that Kerry has opened a seven-point lead, 51 percent to 44 percent, in a hypothetical national contest, and that 55 percent of respondents disapproved of the way the president was handling Iraq.

4. "reelection [sic] bid looked vulnerable"???
Of COURSE it looks vulnerable! It IS vulnerable! He might actually win in the end, but how can anyone qualify his vulnerability? He is clearly vulnerable!

Sorry about the rant, but this weasel type reporting about Bush's vulnerability drives me crazy. The media still can't call it like it is: the man is f'ing vulnerable!

6. It's worse than vulnerable
He is clearly behind, and it will be a steep uphill battle for him until November. Once again, they prefer to remain "kind" regarding bush's
situation.

5. CNN has a similar story
Mourning in America

OK, back to politics: A new Los Angeles Times poll out this morning shows Bush trailing John Kerry, 51 to 44 percent, and that's even without Ralph Nader in the mix. Kerry still leads with Nader -- 48 to 42 percent with Nader drawing 4 percent.

Most respondents said Bush is "too ideological and stubborn" and has mishandled the economy and Iraq. (Some bright spots for Bush: He still receives good numbers for the overall war on terrorism, he leads Kerry in battleground Missouri and is running even in Ohio and Wisconsin).

The answer to the Saudi peak question will determine
whether Saudi Arabia really can increase production quickly,
as promised. If they can't, then the US economy is going to
suffer bitterly, and it is certain that the Saudi monarchy
will collapse into chaos. Then the nearby US military will
occupy the oilfields and the U.S. will ultimately Balkanize
the country by carving off the oil fields - which occupy only a
small area near the East coast.

Now this:

March 2004
ADM William J. Fallon, USN
Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command

Additionally, as we retool our training and deployment
construct, we’re working to meet the CNO goal of “presence
with a purpose,” employing CSGs(Carrier Strike Groups) in support of well-
defined missions rather than deploying merely for the sake
of maintaining a presence. CNO wants a Navy that is able
to rapidly respond with very significant combat power. Six-
month heel-to-toe deployments just to provide
presence somewhere limit available response options
and make us predictable to potential adversaries.

We want the ability to provide the President with scalable
options up to eight carriers if required to get the job done.

Make that 9 w/ the HMS Invincible coming to the East Coast.

If you knew there was going to be an abrupt regime change
in the US, what would you do to show the planet
that the USGov't was under control and noone (China,
Russia) should get any ideas.

29. Make that-Ten US Navy Carriers+HMS Invincible off EastCoast
Completely unprecedented.

I talked to a USNavy Vet Relation when the
story was 7 CSG's at sea. He (A Republican)
got visibly agitated. Said I must have the story
wrong.

Now it's 10.

Batten down the hatches.

13. True
I think Kerry has been playing it very smart by not attacking Bush to harshly. I know a lot of people have wanted him to go tougher on Bush & Co. but he is letting Bush take himself down. Bush is such a horrible president that the corruption and policy blunders of his administration will continue to explode in Bush's face and paved the way for a much needed Kerry victory.

25. I've been assuming that is what Kerry is doing....
letting Bush have center stage to implode, and planning to make major
moves closer to the election. I hope so--I hope its intentional.
It seems to me Kerry hasn't really even started campaigning yet.

14. I thought the very same thing.
What "tough" challenge? Kerry has run mostly positive ads and has basically sat back and watched the Bush misAdministration implode upon itself. When Kerry does decide to get tough, I imagine the lead will easily open to double digits.

16. War On Terrorism?
Since no attacks have occured with the US it is seen as BushCo doing a great job. The truth is that Al Q. has not wanted to launch any sort of attacks, even small ones in the US. It is real obvious that they could do so. BushCo reps, Rice, Asscroft and others have stated this. Why haven't there been any attacks?

20. The key words here are
"staged" and "show" in the first sentence. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what George W. Bush is all about.

There is no substance to the man. He's not genuine. He's not real. He just play-acts as President. People just think they've got someone in charge, but in reality he's a hologram, an image.

We'd be better off with no president.

27. More proof of why Bush has to go.
He can't make a deal with anyone that isn't already in the Bush cabal. He is so disliked that people will go out of their way to avoid dealing with him. He's bad for business, he's bad for the country.
