Man throws woman off overpass, jumps to his death (Bush Turnpike - Dallas)
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/metropolitan/2621093

RICHARDSON -- Two people died today in a highway argument that ended when the man pulled the woman from their car, pushed her off an overpass into oncoming rush hour traffic and then jumped about 80 feet to his death.

Witnesses told police the man and woman were arguing in their 2000 Mercedes on the shoulder of the President George Bush Turnpike just north of Dallas, said Sgt. Kevin Perlich, a spokesman for the Richardson Police Department.

"The man got out of the car and forcibly removed the woman from the car and pushed her off the overpass while she struggled with him," Perlich said. "Pretty quickly after that the man jumped."

The woman landed on the hood of a car traveling on U.S. Highway 75, which carried her a short distance before she fell off and was hit by another car, Perlich said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Guess it's my day for news of the macabre. But I will say that if I had to drive on "President George Bush Turnpike" - and had to pay turnpike fees to do so, I would probably look for another way to go.

Now, that's fucked up! Fit of rage, killed the woman, then realized his life was as good as over, and took the leap. Fuckin' coward.

16. The answer is to "NEVER" drink the water here. Buy water!
The water is horrible nasty anyway. I don't know any sane people who drink it.

8. For what its worth, I used to live in Richardson
I cant see how anyone could live there and stay sane. Dallas and its surrounding communities is just another version of Houston, with out the pine trees.

9. The original President George H.W. Bu$h Turnpike ( the vomiting dad) ..
is now called the generic President George Bu$h Turnpike. What will they re-name it when those criminals are in the slammer, with Kenny-boy, making small rocks from big rocks? Bow-down you stupid Dallas repuke assholes. I am so glad that I am outta-there that I could scream! In retribution, I'll continue to give relatively big money to the Texas Democratic candidates and the glorious Texas Democratic Party.

13. They named the Houston Intercontinental Airport after George Sr.
I live near Richardson (scene of the crime) but I'm from Houston originally. I was there last weekend and I saw the sign for the airport it said - and I'm not kidding

"George H. W. Bush Incontinent Airport"

HA!

18. You know, I don't know why they changed the Houston Airport Name!
Edited on Thu Jun-10-04 11:16 PM by Tight_rope
It use to be Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH), which I and many still call it. But these assholes changed it to Bush Intercontinental Airport. For what I don't know. They never did shit for Houston. Just came down here for their dirty oil businesses. When that went bust in the 80's they packed up and left. Bastard, every last one of them. :spank:

... as a Texan who has lived here a very long time, I get a little tired of the villification.

There are lots of fools here, but there is no shortage of fools anywhere in the country as far as I can tell.

There are also lots of good people here, many of them right here on DU.

25. That's why traffic was all fucked up yesterday..
I get on the Chimpy expressway for about 100yards before I get back off to take 75 south. As soon as I left the exit ramp there was nobody on the highway. I looked back in the rearview mirror and saw the flashing lights and all lanes stopped on 75. It was smooth crusing for me and the 5 other people on the highway at 5:30 in the afternoon. Northbound 75 was screwed.

31. updated related article: Woman Thrown 85 Feet to her Death on Motorway
http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=3053237

A woman who was pulled from a car during a roadside argument and thrown to her death from an 85 foot overpass was “fighting like hell” to save herself, a witness said.

Her assailant also died.

The 21-year-old woman fell onto the bonnet of a car on the motorway below, then was dragged several yards before being hit by another vehicle, said police Sergeant Kevin Perlich in Richardson, Texas. She died at the scene.

only 21.

so sad.

no do-overs on this one.

32. You just have to wonder...
What the hell could they have been fighting about that was THIS BAD??

reprehensor and I were talking about it this morning. Something on the order of "I slept with your best friend?" "I'm pregnant?" What?

God only knows. This guy had a major hair-trigger temper, if nothing else.

That poor girl. I can only imagine the terror she must have been feeling. To think that someone she thought she loved could just shove her off an overpass like she meant nothing.

And her poor family. The world seems to be going crazy.
