Mt Vernon passes resolution against Patriot Act

Voters in the central Maine town of Mount Vernon have passed a resolution condemning the U.S. Patriot Act.

Saturday's vote makes Mount Vernon the first Maine town to pass a resolution against the Patriot Act at a town meeting. Waterville, Portland, and Bangor have all passed similar resolutions through their city officials.

In March, the Maine legislature passed a resolution urging Congress to make sure the federal anti-terrorism legislation does not compromise civil liberties.
