DRC president's residence comes under fire
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 10:55 AM by dArKeR
Kinshasa - Assailants fired automatic weapons at the residence of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Joseph Kabila at the weekend, resulting in a deadly shootout, several sources have reported.

An AFP photographer heard the shooting at about 2.30am (01h30 GMT) in the DRC capital Kinshasa on Sunday, and a source at the president's office said Monday that it came from a boat sailing on the nearby Congo River.

Speaking to AFP on condition of anonymity, the presidential source said security forces returned fire, claiming "several casualties" among the assailants.
