Inventor plans 'invisible walls'
(snip)

Susumu Tachi, who showed off the cloak at an exhibition in San Francisco earlier this month, said he was hopeful of providing a way to provide a view of the outside in windowless rooms.

"This technology can be used in all kinds of ways, but I wanted to create a vision of invisibility," he told BBC World Service's Outlook programme.

"My short-term goal would be, for example, to make a room that has no outside windows appear to have a view to the outside, then the wall would appear to be invisible."

Professor Tachi's cloak works by projecting an image onto itself of what is behind the wearer.

3. Don't get too excited. Here's a beginning list of who will buy it
Microsoft - to make all security flaws invisible
The auto industry - to make fuel efficiency standards invisible
The RNC - to make liberals invisible

The list goes on and on and on...

2. Anyone ever read "Wasteland"
By Stephen King? The psycho AI train in that book did this same thing. Kinda freaky.

16. I'm having doubts about that one, myself.
I'm still about halfway through Wizard & Glass, so I haven't really looked at Song of Susannah yet. But from reading the dust jacket, it looks like King has written a carbon copy of himself into the story, like he did with Kingdom Hospital. Which was more about shouting "Look at me! I'm Stephen King!" than it was about telling a real story.

I haven't read any of Stephen King's books outside of the Dark Tower series. Was he always this egotistical, or did that SUV scramble his brain?

6. Instead of going to all that work...
... he could just hook up a "Somebody Else's Problem" field generator and no one would look twice.

7. A new meaning for the term "the disappeared".
I think having this in my home would creep me out. I'd rather just have a window. But I can see the products usefulness...though the negatives of how it would get used outweigh the positives imo.

I can't say as I completely understand how this works though.

8. The cloak was reported last year
Pretty impressive actually, they had footage of a subject wearing it on TV. The military is supposed to be looking into this technology for vehicles and soldier's camo.

15. Because you can't
walk behind a "scenedow" and be seen by the ones looking out. Remember that the light took years to pass through the scenedows.

I love3d the idea of slow glass!

13. Is This Something Like What The Alien In The Movie "Predator" Wore?
The creature had some sort of cloaking device that projected onto itself that which was behind it and made it appear as though it were part of the jungle scenery immediately behind it.
