Forts See Drop in Re-Enlistments
Re-enlistments have plunged at Fort Riley, Forty Carson and several other Army posts where combat teams have recently returned from Iraq.
At Fort Riley, recruiters have signed only 50 percent of their quota for first-term re-enlistees, and 57 percent for mid-career soldiers.
And recruitment figures show post recruiters have met only 57
percent of their quota for re-enlisting first-term soldiers since Fort Carson units began returning in April.

Recruiters say they're also re-enlisting only 46 percent of the quota for "mid-career'' noncommissioned officers, young sergeants with four to ten years of experience who are considered key to the Army's future.

The numbers reflect the current quarter, which ends June 30th.
At Fort Bragg, North Carolina, recruiters have met 65 percent of
their goal for first-term soldiers and 80 percent of the goal for mid-career soldiers.

1. I don't blame them
They are going over into an illegal, poorly planned war. The neocon 'generals' didn't let the experts make sure Iraq would be secure and use the number of soldiers needed. Now there's stop loss and Haliburton rip offs. No wonder the soldiers are disgusted.

2. If the recruiters at Ft Bragg
are admitting to 65 and 80% you can bet they're running at least 20% less than that. It's a miracle they've put that much negative info out for the public to see.

5. Well...here's the other possibility....
given that many of these "private contractors" are hiring skilled
soldiers and offering them MUCH more money...I'm thinking that many
of these soldiers are dumping their military jobs for the merc jobs.

These things are obviously not reported...

9. Poorly Paid, Poorly Equipped, Poorly Fed
Universally despised...and watching the KBR/Halliburton "contractors" rake in thousands for doing the same job in "Chaney's War."

Some may stay in if they had a guarantee that they wouldn't be sent back but I don't think that's very likely with the current mis administration.

They're now talking to the folks back home to let them know the truth and I strongly suspect that will be Kerry's "October Surprise."
