U.S. Spy Case Investigator Charged with Child Rape
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=domesticNews&storyID=5431148

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (Reuters) - A key investigator in the espionage case against a Syrian-American translator at the U.S. Naval base in Guantanamo has been charged with raping and sodomizing children, officials said on Tuesday.

The charges were made public during a pretrial hearing for Senior Airman Ahmad Al Halabi, who is accused of carrying jail maps, letters and other documents from U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he worked as an Arabic translator with suspected al Qaeda and Taliban fighters who are being held there.

During a break, Halabi's attorney told reporters that Air Force Sgt. Marc Palmosina, who had overseen the probe against his client, had been charged with raping and sodomizing at least two children, one as young as 11 years old, and with mishandling classified documents.

Military officials provided reporters a list of charges against Palmosina which include rape of a person under the age of 12 in Japan in 1998 and 2000 and sodomy of a child under the age of 12 in Vacaville, California.

1. Notice how there is MORE info about the Syrian NOT being charged with this
crime, than there is about the AMERICAN, Air Force Sgt. Marc Palmosina...

You have to read very carefully to figure out WHO is being charged with what here.

How horribly convoluted.

2. Agree, I got confused as to who the rapist was...it's not until one goes
further down in the article that you realize it's Palmosina and not
Senior Airman Ahmad Al Halabi.

in Abu Ghraib?

Do I understand it that these rape charges did not involve prisoners at GTMO but rather non captive children in Japan and CA?

6. Not prisoners in this particular case (well, not captives held by the US)
Where do they get these investigators and interrogators? Do the FundiCons have some system in place for promoting/hiring that gives extra points for sociopathy, sadism, and deceit?

7. "It's not Good"
As quoted in the news story on CNN:

Military officials later gave reporters a list of charges against Palmosina which include rape of a person under the age of 12 in Japan in 1998 and 2000 and sodomy with a child under the age of 12 in Vacaville, California.

"It's not good," Col. John Kellogg, deputy staff judge advocate for Air Mobility Command, told Reuters. But it should not affect Halabi's upcoming trial, he added.

SHOULD NOT AFFECT HALABI'S UPCOMING TRIAL? WHAT????? THIS REMINDS ME OF THE ENTIRE BUSH ADMINISTRATION!! NOTHING APPLIES TO THEM...DON'T MIND THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN FOLKS...OH, SO WHAT IF THERE IS A LITTLE TORTURE AND RAPE OF CHILDREN...WE'RE TOUGH ON TERRORISM...

:grr:

4. Defense Dept. policy re gays vs. pedophiles.

When I worked at a Navy base, a guy on the 2nd deck was busted for sexually molesting his 6-month-old grandson. Everybody defended him as being a nice uninhibited guy with a great sense of humor. He had been molesting his daughters for years, and would never have been busted except that the daughter caught him with the grandson and feared that the child would grow up homosexual. The Navy at that time did not fire known pedophiles, saying that since everyone at work was an adult, what they did on their own time did not cause problems at the workplace. Meanwhile they were carrying out witchhunts against gays and lesbians.

The military attitude seems to be that it is okay to have sex with children below the age of consent, but not with consenting adults of the same sex. The daughter, who didn't seem to have understood that it was okay to have sex with a person of the same sex, as long as that person was below the age of consent, was harassed and shunned and eventually left town.

5. What the F**K...Let me get this straight...the investigator's been charged
...on "NUMEROUS" occasions w/ rape and sodomy of children? What is this SOB doing in the military and not in Jail? Is this what our Military is made up of these days? I'm starting to think that those who are "charged" or "held" are more likely to be "innocent" compared to the "investigators" and those "in charge"...

Scary...

8. I think I speak for most of America when I say I'm outraged by the outrage
This was a dirty, filthy SPY for the evildoers - and Palmosina was doing his job expertly... what does it matter if a few boys get raped? Its no worse than a fraternity hazing. He was just blowing off steam. Support the troops.

16. U.S. airman 'raped' children in Okinawa - JT
LOS ANGELES (Kyodo) A U.S. airman and investigator in a Guantanamo Bay espionage case is facing charges including raping and molesting children in Okinawa and California, an air force official said Tuesday.

Air Force Sgt. Marc Palmosina allegedly raped and molested children under the age of 12 on four separate occasions at or near the U.S. Kadena Air Base between Oct. 1, 1998, and Oct. 1, 2001, according to a document provided by Travis Air Force Base in California.

He is also accused of molesting girls under 16 at or near Kadena between May 29, 1999, and Oct. 1, 2001, and raping and molesting children under 16 at or near Vacaville, Calif., between May 29, 1999, and Oct. 1, 2003.

How is it possible the other journalists missed Okinawa?

17. 4 separate freaking occasions?????
Jeebus.

Scum of the earth.

Reminds me of what a co-worker said about the rapists that Aileen Wuornos killed, most of whom had prior convictions. We were discussling it and she was sympathetic to the dead men, said sadly that they were all "family men". The fact that they had solicited a prostitute did not make a dent in the "family man" persona. God help us all, Bush sure knows how to pick 'em.

19. I do NOT believe Palmosian didn't molest/rape Japanese children! I think
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 01:09 AM by dArKeR
anyone who has been to Japan would second this. In my opinion, if Palmosian molested/raped the amount he's been accused, I stand by he molested/raped double Japanese children. Sex crimes are very often hidden and bring shame to the family and victim children. Unless Palmosian is shown to be some kind of racists/Arian type of criminal, I stand by most of his victims were Japanese or other Asians he could molest. He could too easily run off to the base and no one could follow or touch him. There would be complicated military/Japanese governmental procedures. The Japanese police would have a miserable time investigating. Victims, if the did come forward, which I very much doubt, may have not even known he was US military and the Japanese police couldn't just walk on base and conduct and investigation.

I think any sort of psychiatrist is going to come to this conclusion. This guy wanted victims and easiest place to find them, with least danger to him, was off base. Just think of his risk of molesting other military personels' children!

I think you're going to hear the above in the future.
