Karzai requests more NATO troops
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 12:38 AM by dArKeR
REUTERS , WASHINGTON

Afghan President Hamid Karzai yesterday called on NATO to provide more peacekeeping forces for his country ahead of planned September elections, but said he was not seeking additional US troops.

Karzai and US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, in an outdoor news conference at the spot where a hijacked plane slammed into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, also expressed confidence that Osama bin Laden, whose al-Qaeda network was blamed for the attack, will be captured, but did not guess when.

Karzai was scheduled to meet yesterday with US President George W. Bush.

5. Today's (?) L.A. Times
announced the capture of ten important Al Qaeda terrorists in Pakistan. Sorry, I don't have the cite and don't know exactly when they were captured. I read it in the hard copy L.A. Times.

I think the U.S. is very close to capturing bin Laden if he is still alive. How long has it been since we last heard from bL himself? An announcement of bL's capture on September 11 sounds likely to me.

7. Karzai

Karzai should not be putting demands on NATO to clean up the mess. It should be either the US or the UN.

Karzai has also called on NATO to get more peacekeeping forces into his country ahead of the elections, but said he was not seeking additional U.S. troops.

"The United States is already busy in Afghanistan helping us in reconstruction, and helping us fight terrorism and helping us secure our borders," Karzai said at a news conference Monday.

Why are young European and Canadian soldiers being put in harm's way to fight the real war on terror while the US goes on with the charade in Iraq?

NATO is the US's puppet - that's why.

And the Taliban's reluctance to work with the US on a pipeline was an obstacle for US desire of Central Asian oil supplies. Why must our children die for SUV's?

Their UNACOL poodle in Karzai (former executive for the company)has the pipeline going in as we speak.

Of course it's about oil and natural gas. Here's an interesting and poignant analysis.
