Spy case investigator charged with rape
http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/06/15/halabi.investigator.reut/index.html

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, California (Reuters) -- A key investigator in the espionage case against a Syrian-American translator at the U.S. Naval base in Guantanamo has been charged with raping and sodomizing children, officials said on Tuesday.

The charges were made public during a pretrial hearing for Senior Airman Ahmad Al Halabi, who is accused of carrying jail maps, letters and other documents from Guantanamo Bay where he worked an Arabic translator with suspected al Qaeda and Taliban fighters who are being held there.

During a break, Halabi's attorney told reporters that Air Force Sgt. Marc Palmosina, who had overseen the probe against his client, had been charged with raping and sodomizing children, some as young as 11 years old, on numerous occasions, and with mishandling classified documents.

1. What the F**K...Let me get this straight...the investigator's been charged
...on "NUMEROUS" occasions w/ rape and sodomy of children? What is this SOB doing in the military and not in Jail? Is this what our Military is made up of these days? I'm starting to think that those who are "charged" or "held" are more likely to be "innocent" compared to the "investigators" and those "in charge"...

Scary...

2. "It's not Good"
As quoted in the news story on CNN:

Military officials later gave reporters a list of charges against Palmosina which include rape of a person under the age of 12 in Japan in 1998 and 2000 and sodomy with a child under the age of 12 in Vacaville, California.

"It's not good," Col. John Kellogg, deputy staff judge advocate for Air Mobility Command, told Reuters. But it should not affect Halabi's upcoming trial, he added.

SHOULD NOT AFFECT HALABI'S UPCOMING TRIAL? WHAT????? THIS REMINDS ME OF THE ENTIRE BUSH ADMINISTRATION!! NOTHING APPLIES TO THEM...DON'T MIND THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN FOLKS...OH, SO WHAT IF THERE IS A LITTLE TORTURE AND RAPE OF CHILDREN...WE'RE TOUGH ON TERRORISM...

:grr:

5. "It's not good?" Probably not good enough
if this perv is the one in charge of life-altering charges against a citizen working for the government. He has faulty mental powers.

Not content to bully the prisoners, they've started trying to attack the U.S. employees who stood as benign characters in the system dealing with the "detainees." If they weren't going to choke, or bludgeon them, or shove objects into their private zones, they must have been some kind of com-yooo-nists, or "terrarist sympathizers."

After all, do we REALLY need translators? Let's just kill 'em! Faggedabout giving them chaplains. They'll have all the chaplains they can use in the great beyond.

6. Sorry, this thread is a dupe - continue on
the earlier version here:

(I checked thread topics back to the time of the CNN story, but the earler Reuters based thread had dropped even lower then that.)
