Plant In Business Over 100 Years

POSTED: 9:42 am EDT June 16, 2004

LATROBE, Pa. -- Thirty people from a Westmoreland County steel plant are out of a job. Tuesday, leaders at the Standard Steel Plant in Latrobe announced the first round of layoffs.

Company leaders decided to close the plant after more than 100 years in business.

The plant was not producing enough profits for the company. The remaining 90 employees will be laid off by the end of the month.

...very short newsblurb...

100 years and now gone :sigh:
