Rocket fuel chemical in California cow milk
<< SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- Young children and pregnant women who drink milk from California cows may be exposed to unsafe levels of a toxic chemical used in rocket fuel, according to a new study by an environmental group.

The study released Tuesday by the Environmental Working Group comes as state and federal regulators consider setting new standards to regulate perchlorate -- the explosive ingredient in missile fuel that has been linked to thyroid damage.

"Perchlorate exposure is more widespread than we have been led to believe," said Bill Walker, vice president for the West Coast office of the EWG, a research and advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C.

The EWG did not call for Californians to stop drinking milk or giving it to their children, but said it does advocate tougher standards for perchlorate.

Perchlorate has been found in drinking water in more than 20 states, including California, which has extensive ties to the military, defense industry and the space program. The chemical has been detected in the Colorado River, the major source of drinking water and irrigation in Southern California and Arizona. >>

I'd advocate drinking organic milk! The type I buy is made in Wisconsin. I tried to switch back to the regular type and it tasted absolutely rancid! :puke: Now I believe I know why! :puke:

5. Very Scary...
<...open for tinfol hat attacks>

The congloms owned by Carlyle include beverage companies. I must admit the thought crossed my mind, Bush owns so many diverse beverages companies from Schweppes to Dr. Pepper, which translates into control of what is put into the liquids that are processed in the bottling plants.

I wouldn't be surprised, if the beverages are deliberately tainted with carcinogens. Knowing what we know now of the morality of the Bush Cartel, and in light of yesterday's SC ruling shutting out lawsuits against providers; could it be Bush is deliberately poisoning people then taking away their rights to sue their providers for faulty health care?
Leaving death as their only alternative?

6. Jesus you are right!
I'll take that :tinfoilhat: too!

I just got back from the store and stocked up on the stuff made in Wisconsin being it is on sale until the end up this month.

Its pretty damn scary and sad that one must do this if you are a consumer of milk.

I suppose this would also pertain to all butter, cheese and other dairy products in California and the other states mentioned in this article.

Kill off the entire populace before they turn on you ... perhaps this is indeed the plan?

15. I understand your suspicions, but I think that the issue is about
putting the additive in jet fuel, not directly into food. Unfortunately, the result is the same.

7. Link to sites outside CA...
Table 3. Outside California, more than 100 drinking water sources in 19 states are known to be contaminated with perchlorate.

10. Imperial Gouvernor-General Gropenfuher will help you with that
He will, in inimitable Imperial Style, order the Traitorous EWG to close down or otherwise underhanded attack them. Or smear them. Or just lie and ignore them.

But your Imperial Gouvernor will help you!

11. Now they're feeding cows rockets!
What will they think of next?

Seriously though, even organic cow milk isn't really that good for people. Adult cows don't even drink it :)

17. i love the smell of perchlorate in the morning. smells like... victory.
who needs a thyroid anyway? i don't know what these people are on about. just have the thing removed. WE NEED OUR ROCKETS, DAMMIT!

ok, i'm somewhat confused here. are we using this solid fuel for a lot of rockets? i always thought we used hydrogen/oxygen in liquid form... isn't that the steamy stuff coming from the giant tanks on the huge rockets at cape canaveral?

Toxic Emissions Rising, EPA Says

By Juliet Eilperin
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, June 23, 2004; Page A02

Industry released 5 percent more toxic chemicals into the environment in 2002 than the year before, the Environmental Protection Agency reported yesterday.

The latest statistics, compiled in the agency's annual Toxic Release Inventory, represent a setback: In 2001, according to the inventory, toxic emissions had declined by about 16 percent. Environmental groups, moreover, charged yesterday that polluters were releasing four to five times more toxic material than they reported.

Kim Nelson, who directs the EPA's Environmental Information Office, said much of last year's increase was caused by an Arizona-based copper smelting facility that closed and had to dispose of significant waste material. Without that facility, she said, emissions dropped by 3 percent nationwide.
