Bombing Falluja - Who ya' gonna' believe?
http://bellaciao.org/en/article.php3?id_article=1545

<snip>

Brigadier Nuri Abudi, a member of the Falluja Brigade entrusted by the US occupation with imposing security in the city, said “We inspected the damage, we looked through the bodies of the women and children and elderly. This was a family. There is no sign of foreigners having lived in the house. Zarqawi and his men have no presence in Falluja.” (Al Jazeerah)

The US military has consistently alleged that foreigners are operating in Falluja, although up to this point, not one member of a terrorist organization has been either captured or positively sighted. The claim of terrorism has simply become the “all purpose” excuse for ongoing attacks on the Iraqi people. This week’s bombing was no different.

Kimmitt’s explanation was picked up and reiterated by the western media without question. In this case, the media not only echoed the fabrications from the military, but also added a few of their own. A Washington Post report by Edward Cody stated, “Falluja medical personnel said 22 people, ALL DESCRIBED AS FOREIGN FIGHTERS, died” in the incident.

Cody’s allegations are uncorroborated and based on pure fantasy. None of the other reports coming from the site identify the victims as “foreign fighters”, nor has anyone proved that foreigners are a critical part of the Iraqi resistance. Cody’s article is simply intended to establish a link between Al Qaida and the insurgency, and thus, reinforce the Bush Administration’s shabby rationale for occupation

1. Duh? I don't believe the folk that steals from its own people or the ones
who lie about the rules of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

2. Well everyone has or should have seen pics of women and children...
blown to bits by bombs falling from the skies.

Why would any rational person think anything has changed?

3. Of course I believe the U.S. Administration...
their unprecedented aversion of the truth is matched only by their utter incompetence...but they most certainly are speaking the truth on this story. I mean seriously, why would anyone trust people of Falluja, who so clearly hate freedom.

4. The question should be...
Why are we dropping bombs on houses to get these guys? If they're using the house in the middle of a residential area, how hard is it to have covert operations (even done by Iraqi's helping us)? Stake out you know?

It seems like Kimmet is just itching for some more War go Get On!

5. the Israeli's have had such good results of dropping bombs at random
on urban apartment buildings and firing rockets into crowds to get suspected terrorists that 'MIGHT' be present or were reported to have been there at one time ..have resulted in the deaths of numerous women and children, and entire families..and made many people homeless in a 'REFUGEE camp'.

These inhumane and barbaric actions do not win the hearts and minds of the people. These actions CREATE TERRORISTS. we are polarizing the people, we are supposed to be helping, against us

6. That is what is so frightening.
No one seems to question these actions. The news heads just emphasize how bad the guys are we're trying to kill, thus this over-the-top heavy handed strike is okey-dokey.

Americans seem to be accepting anything that happens these days. I hear that old saw "9/11 changed Everything" more and more. It's a steady drumbeat and it appears to hypnotize people. Fear. Black and white. We have to fight back. They know what's best. Our government will protect us.

The world of scandals, corruption, fraud, Enron-style cooking of federal numbers is astounding today. Yet, I can't say Smirk is toast. I fear people are willing to accept another Supreme Court intervention in November. :scared:

7. Who am I going to believe? Probably nobody.
Is Iraq Arabic for Vietnam?

This was predicted prior to the invasion by those who opposed it. As in Vietnam, the US is imposing a government of its choice on the local people without their consent and with every reason to believe against their will. The US government is killing the people who resist; according to polls taken in Iraq, over 80% of the Iraqi people want the occupation to end (and probably, like your humble servant, won't consider it over on June 30).

There was another strike on an alleged "safehouse" in Falluja in which Zarqawi was supposed to be hiding. Are there any bets here against another story like this coming out later today?
