Differences emerge as (Colorado) GOP Senate candidates debate
Englewood - The two Republicans seeking Colorado's open U.S. Senate seat squared off over tax policies, education and experience today in their second debate heading into the Aug. 10 primary.

Former U.S. Rep. Bob Schaffer focused on Peter Coors' lack of political experience, at one point getting the brewery executive to admit he did not know Paul Martin is prime minister of Canada. Coors portrayed Schaffer as a political insider and said Washington needs new ideas.

After the first debate, Coors was criticized for saying he agreed with many of Schaffer's viewpoints. This time, there was much more detail on their differences.

"During the course of this campaign, there has been a suggestion or indication there is little difference between the two candidates," Schaffer said. "I don't believe that's the case. I think we've seen differences when it comes to tax policies, we have seen differences when it comes to education, we have seen differences when it comes to experience."

1. Let them eat their own
Schaeffer will probably win the primary AND at the same time, lose the nomination.

Miles will win the nomination and thus become the U.S. Senator from Colorado, enspousing the spirit of Howard Dean!

2. I hope you are right, but I don't think so.
IMO, it'll be Coors versus Salazar in the general, and Coors will win.

I sure wish it was Miles, or if not Miles then Salazar.

Hell I'd even prefer Schaeffer over Beer Boy.

These two nuts will show Salazar (not Miles - he doesn't stand a chance) how to beat either one of them in November.

BTW, I think you mean "election" not "nomination". And Schaeffer and Coors are brands of beers.:9 Schaffer is a far right wing nut who is running for US Senate.

But it does look like Coors is trying to center himself. He's against Tabor because it hurts business? Huh? Maybe because his trucks are getting worn out on Colorado's bad roads.

Here is the same story with more pictures:

5. not from colorado...but...
It seems like these two guys(rethugs) are both real duds. Coors beer sucks and its commercials seem hardly promotive of family values for the religous nut crowd(see hypocrisy). For the record, Pete Coors had one decent idea to lower the drinking age, I've never been a big supporter of 21 year old law, seems too patronizing.
