China, Japan retrieve 542 wartime chemical bombs (WMDs)
BEIJING — Experts from China and Japan have retrieved a total of 542 chemical bombs in the northeastern Chinese city of Qiqihar left by the Imperial Japanese Army before and during World War II, Xinhua News Agency reported Thursday.

Japan sent a 30-member team for the clearance operation which began at a site in Heilongjiang Province on June 16 with cooperation from the Chinese government, the report said.

1. "Imperial" denotes that regime
Japan tested some nasty germ bombs on the Chinese during WWII

3. human tests
Also tested various biological things on Chinese prisoners.

And as in Germany the horror was very well documented like "scientific work".

2. "Any distinguishing features?" "Yes: the word 'Imperial'"
> Why use the word 'Imperial'?

To distinguish between the bad boys in the old Japanese army and the
good boys in the new Japanese army.

It also sets the mind-mode for "nasty bombs were only researched by
the pre-war & wartime military establishment".

This conveniently glosses over the fact that, by being able to send
"a 30-member team for the clearance operation", Japan is still up there
with the ?best? of us in maintaining biochem "research" facilities ...
obviously for defence only, to train people for this sort of event,
nothing to do with refinement, improvement or proliferation of course ...

FWIW, only last week some houses about 10 miles North of us were
evacuated after a digger uncovered a cache of WWI gas shells. We in
the UK don't use the word "Imperial" to pretend that we've grown out
of that phase, we just stress that "everyone was doing that back in
World War I" ...
