Dem. Senator Zell Miller to Speak at GOP Convention
Associated Press

According to the aide, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Miller will give his address on Wednesday night of the convention in New York. The Bush-Cheney campaign was expected to make an official announcement later in the day. The convention will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 2.

The speech by Miller, a former two-term governor, comes 12 years after he delivered the keynote address for Bill Clinton at the 1992 Democratic National Convention, also held in New York.

Miller, who is retiring in January, has voted with Republicans more often than his own party and has been a key sponsor of many of Bush's top legislative priorities, including the Republican's tax cuts and education plan.

4. He's a GOP lapdog.
Why doesn't he just join Bush's brown shirts and be done with it? I don't understand why the Dem's don't just throw him out of the party? Is there some legal reason I'm not aware of?

9. He's a fool
and he will look even more foolish and used when he speaks at their convention. He was supposed to bring lots of democrats over to the Bush side and i don't he has lived up to his promise. The gop can have him, he's never really been a democrat except for taking their money for his campaigns, he should pay it back.

10. A prime time confession of weakness and timidity...
that is all this is really.
It is not surprising he has been angling for this sinecure for quite some time.
Is there any doubt that Zell acts like a GOP sleeper agent within Democratic ranks in order to co-opt potential GOP opposition in Georgia?
I doubt he could win as a free and upstanding Democrat in Ga. so he carries on in this gross and servile fashion to hold onto his job.
Granted he is leaving the senate, but now he has to pay off one last time.
Sick
Demented
Typical...

11. Can the Dems kick him out of the party?
The Democrats really need to do something to make a statement against this guy.

13. Yes. They can. But it will just give him more press.
And make it all the easier to parrot Reagan's "I never left the Democratic Party.... they left ME".

12. Daschle needs to be clear on this...
If Miller sets foot on the podium of the GOP Convention, he'll be stripped on his committee assignments and removed from the Democratic Caucus. Sometimes there's a fine line between principled opposition and betrayel, but Zell crossed that line a long time ago.
