House Votes to Make All Enron Evidence Public

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Friday passed a measure that would require the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to release all evidence related to Enron Corp.'s role in the western power crisis of 2000-01.

The amendment, sponsored by Democrats from Washington, California and Oregon, was passed as part of a $28 billion bill to pay for energy and water projects, which included FERC's $221 million budget for fiscal 2005.

``We were successful today in lifting FERC's veil of secrecy over Enron's market manipulation,'' said Washington Rep. Jay Inslee.

New evidence contained in audio tapes in which Enron traders discuss ways to gouge California customers during the western crisis has renewed the call for refunds at FERC.

3. The House voted for this?!

Kind of strange since the House is predominately Republican. Way to go Democrats, but it's not like this vote has any real power to make Cheney do anything, does it?

4. Might be wishful thinking, but this might be way to get Cheney to release
his Energy Transcripts. It's a backdoor way, maybe, but since the SCOTUS threw the case back to lower courts, it means that if evidence linking anything to Lay turns out to go back to DC/Bush/Cheney/FERC a court would have to rule.

Legal stuff is so complicated, but there are always ways to track things and the more one gets into Enron the more it becomes like AbuGraib/Gitmo investigations. One thing leads to another and something you didn't expect turns up.

I think this is hopeful. I think so...but it might take time, or maybe they've had enough time in the three long years that they know just where to go.

5. Has nothing to do with Chaney's task force docs

Only what the FERC found out about Enron and the CA energy "crisis".

Still, I'm surprised the House repugs let this one through.

8. OK! I'll be pleased by all the apologies from the freeper types that
blamed all of us liberal Californians for the blackouts and grey outs.

OK guys lets here the apologies for calling Gov Davis Grey out Davis.

I can't hear you. Guys? You paying attention to the Enron tapes? Freeps? Anybody? Just silence from the wing nut crowd I'm afraid.
