CA stray pets win! Terminator: 0, Animals: 1
Subject: CRISIS AVERTED - GOVERNOR ADMITS MISTAKE AND CONFIRMS HE LOVES ANIMALS!
***PLEASE FORWARD AND CROSS POST!***

The will of the Legislature and the people of California has been upheld.

Governor Schwarzenegger just announced to the media that he made a terrible mistake proposing the repeal of the Hayden law. He said he loves animals and his daughter was of particular influence in recognizing the situation this repeal suggestion created.

PLEASE THANK Governor Schwarzenegger for recognizing the value of the Hayden legislation and tell him we look forward to working with him on legislation to protect animals in the future. You can contact the Governor here http://www.govmail.ca.gov/.

PLEASE also thank the conference committee members for their efforts to correct this error. Special thanks to Assemblymembers Koretz, Levine and Leno for showing their leadership on this issue as well.

The concerns of the animals were heard loud and clear. Please be sure your thanks are just as loud.

Thank you for all your efforts,
Jennifer

8. We have the 3 day rule here in Texas
and it's backfired several times. There was a family whose two Golden Retrievers got out when a meter reader left the backyard gate open. They had just gotten flea baths the day before and didn't have their collars back on yet. Although the SPCA's guidelines were to hold animals that weren't sick or injured for AT LEAST 3 days, someone messed up on the GR's paperwork and they were euthanized within 24 hours of arriving at the shelter. They were both young and healthy and as purebreeds they should have been very adoptable. The SPCA didn't have much to say but "oops".

16. I was heartbroken
I'm not a PETA type, but I do love dogs (and cats, but not quite as much). In the 5-1/2 years I've lived out in the country I've rehomed or adopted 15 stray cats and dogs (3 dogs and 1 cat got to stay). "Stray" is a euphemism -- they were dumped, and we picked 'em up and brought 'em home (the last 6 were a litter of pit bull mix pups somebody just dumped along the side of the road -- boy were THEY a handful, 6 at one time. Whew!).

So anyway, I was seriously disturbed by this.

for the sake of the animals he came to his senses!

I did write him a thank you letter because I believe is it important to acknowledge appreciation when someone changes their mind and then admits they made a big stupid mistake of judgement.

7. Arnold proves again that he is different than Bush
He admits that he made a mistake.

If only he wasn't backing Bush in November, he'd get a lot more respect from me.

12. Someone Needs To Remind Arnie about how "Conan the Destroyer" Went
Sometimes the people who hired you aren't the good guys,
and the time comes to stop working for them and do the right thing.
Arnold's character does that in the movie.
It's time for Arnold to do that in real life. Switch parties and endorse Kerry.
Make Enron pay back what they stole. Stand up for California!

That show how many animals are saved using a 6 day period versus a 3 day?

20. I think we've been had.
Arnold saw the light so quickly and painlessly. What a reasonable Arnold! See how big hearted he is? We talked him out of killing puppies! This is someone we can work with!

/sarcasm :eyes:

22. Don't be so sarcastic!
There are a LOT of Republicans who could never be talked out of killing puppies! Some seem to make a habbit of it (isn't killing the weak and helpless a core Republican value?)

I hope Bill Frist has nightmares about those cats.

23. It was rather amazing....
that the beefcake even thought to make such a proposal. Repubs may not love much, but even the most brittle Repub heart gets the hint of a tear in their eye rubbin' the soft fur on ol' Duke.

stated that his LA office was swamped with calls. I knew he wouldn't be able to get away with it. There are too many animal lovers.

27. I never understood Arnold's reasoning.
The animal shelters would have the same costs no matter how long they kept the dogs and cats alive. I think they would always be operating at near capacity if the dogs were there 3 days or 6 days. The ones adopted or killed are always replaced by more. Only if killing the animals reduced the population on hand would it save money. I don't think this was a well thought out idea.
