Bush Caught in a Lie About the 9-11 WTC Attacts

(Many of us know this already, but it bears repeating)

Bush Caught in a Lie
About the 9/11 WTC Attacks

At http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0112/04/se.04.html is a transcript of President Bush's comments regarding the day of the attacks on the World Trade Towers.

Towards the bottom of the transcript is the following quote. (Note: Some readers are reporting that the version of the CNN transcript they see in some parts of the country has been edited to remove the following comment. George Orwell would be proud!)

RealAudio of Bush saying he saw the first plane
hit the World Trade Towers on TV.

QUESTION: One thing, Mr. President, .(snip).. that how did you feel when you heard about the terrorist attack?

BUSH: Well... (APPLAUSE)

Thank you, Jordan (ph).

Well, Jordan (ph), you're not going to believe what state I was in when I heard about the terrorist attack. I was in Florida. And my chief of staff, Andy Card -- actually I was in a classroom talking about a reading program that works. And I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower -- the TV was obviously on, and I use to fly myself, and I said, "There's one terrible pilot." And I said, "It must have been a horrible accident."

But I was whisked off there -- I didn't have much time to think about it, and I was sitting in the classroom, and Andy Card, my chief who was sitting over here walked in and said, "A second plane has hit the tower. America's under attack."

There is a problem with the above statement. There was no live video coverage of the first plane hitting the tower. There couldn't be. Video of that first plane hitting the tower did not surface until AFTER the second plane had hit.Bush is lying through his teeth here.

Even though Bush is not a very good pilot (he was taken off of flight status for failure to take a medical exam which included a drug test), it would be silly to assume that a passenger jet hitting the WTC in clear weather was pilot error. The only other known impact between an aircraft and a New York skyscraper was when a military airplane crashed into the Empire State Building in a heavy fog. Because of that incident, there are mandatory altitude minimums over the island.

If Bush really did see an airplane on TV hitting the World Trade Towers, then he saw that the aircraft was under control at the time, and if the following Propaganda Matrix posting is correct he didn't see the event at Booker Elementary.

1. he repeated his story at a later town hall in California
So if he'd just made a slip of the tongue, he could have corrected himself then. I suspect that his recall of the day is so hazy that he's actually convinced himself that he DID see the footage of the first plane crash while he was at the school.

3. this isn't necessarily a lie so much as a delusion
I'll bet many, many people think they saw both planes hit live when they really just saw the second plane on television over and over and over again.

Bush lies about many things, but I don't think this is one of them. From the footage, he was obviously scared shitless when they told him what happened and his brain isn't too clear on a good day.

5. I am quite clear in my recall of that day. He's the freakin' CIC!!!!
If he isn't clear, he either has something to hide or is completely incompetent.

6. I think he knew that it was going to happen
He just didn't know the buildings would collapse. Why didn't the secret service whisk him away? He would most certainly be a target along with the children at the school. That's why he could make those comments. The video of him shown in the movie was weird. He looked like he was a deer in headlights. He didn't know what to do. Quite odd if you ask me. He is our "leader."

By the way, I saw F-911 today. Wow. Quite an amazing documentary!

7. I finally figured out what has been bothering me about this
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 07:49 PM by koopie57
I'm sure it is so obvious that no one felt it important to mention it, but if he saw a plane hit the WTC, wouldn't a real president say what the he$$ and demand to be taken to New York? I know when I saw it I was stunned for several minutes wondering if what I was seeing was real. It took awhile for me to believe it. Now, how simple is his mind that he could see that and then get whisked away to read to children?

And why would he lie about that? It just seems like a stupid thing to lie about. There really is no way possible that this story could be true.

regarding delusions: I don't think it was delusions, I think he was scared shi*less either cuz he is a chicken by nature or he might have known it was going to happen and freaked when it finally did. I certainly don't feel it necessary to give him the benefit of the doubt cuz he is after all, president of the US. Kinda think we deserve better than that.
