June 29 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush's job approval rating dropped to 42 percent, the lowest level of his presidency, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll, the Times reported.

The survey found people worried about terrorist attacks in the U.S. and questioning whether Bush has been completely honest about the war in Iraq or abuses at the Abu Ghraib prison, the newspaper reported. The poll was done prior to yesterday's transfer of power to an interim Iraqi government.

A majority of respondents said the Iraq war wasn't worth the U.S. lives lost and the White House doesn't have a well-defined plan to reestablish order, the Times reported. Almost 40 percent of respondents don't have an opinion about Democratic contender John Kerry. Among those with an opinion, more than half said Kerry says what he thinks voters want to hear.
