State GOP files formal complaints against Sen. Schumer
ALBANY, N.Y. -- State GOP Chairman Alexander Treadwell said he was filing formal complaints Tuesday against Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer for using taxpayer dollars to pay for flights to political events.

The Treadwell complaints to the Federal Elections Commission and the Senate Ethics Committee come in the wake of Schumer's campaign last week reimbursing the federal government $18,929 after his Republican challenger, state Assemblyman Howard Mills, questioned the travel that included political events.

While the Schumer camp said the reimbursement stemmed from "accounting errors," Treadwell said Tuesday that "these acts constitute a violation of federal law."

"Schumer filed false documents for reimbursement claiming officials trips on 35 occasions that we know of," Treadwell said. "There may be more instances of abuse. That's why we need these investigations."

1. Yet...
The Dems don't complain about Shrubco using Air Force One as his own personal campaign vehicle without reimbursing the government from his campaing funds while he is obviously on campaign stops...

What the fuck is wrong with the Democrats on Capitol Hill? Have they all been neutered so they won't speak out? Fucking question it, Fucking give the Repukes shit! Is Senator Leahy the only one who's got the balls to question Crashcart? And he was a friggin Repug 4 years ago!!!

2. Correction
It was Jeffords that was a Repug, now an independent. Leahy has always been a Democrat.

6. Whoops...
Ok, well Jeffords is still cool for that...

And Leahy is one of the few Dem Senators with a pair.

4. One example that comes to my mind immediately
is the wreath laying on MLK's grave then off to a 2,000 a plate fundraiser immediately following.

3. Looks like they're trying to Torricelli-ize Schumer
I just hope nothing sticks.

Why don't have Democratic groups filing similar complaints with regard to every incumbent Republican senator?

5. For a party that is constantly attacking trial lawyers they sure use them
quite a bit. Seems ever other day we hear about some repub wanting to take some Dem or liberal organization to court in a elections related mater.

7. Another note about Schumer
he's on the Senate Committee for the Judiciary and you can bet the Repubs would love him gone!

Repubs want to be in control of who gets (more than one seat) that will come up for the USSC.

The 2004 election is still about this for them this is one branch they want full control of!

They aren't going to be able to take Schumer's seat fair and square so they are going to go on the attack.

I suspect that other Democrats on this committee will be attacked if they haven't already been.

9. Well, they already sent Leahy an envelope of anthrax
Time for him to get Wellstoned?

Maybe the anthrax did it's jopb and scared him, but he is not nearly as scared as Dacshle.

So maybe the Busheviks are going to "attack" him again.

8. "Tourism" ads
How many ads have I seen with Pataki inviting me to come to New York. And of course the not so funny thing is, these ads run in New York. Talk about blatant mis-use of state funds.

10. Is that like Bush stopping at MLK Jr's grave for five minutes
on the taxpayer's dime before he goes to a huge fundraiser in Atlanta?
