Iraq appeals for health funding
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3883545.stm

Saturday, 10 July, 2004

The new government in Iraq has made an urgent international appeal for funds to buy medicines.

Health Minister Alaadin Alwan said there were shortages of basic antibiotics, as well as drugs to combat cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

He said Iraq needed to at least double its annual health budget of $1bn to tackle the problem

But he acknowledged that corruption and mismanagement remained, with some drugs still ending up on the black market.

This is appalling. Bu$hCo has spent over a billion a week in Iraq since March 2003. Yet the Iraqi's don't have 1 billion per year to maintain their hospitals at some minimum level?

Look at the pictures at the following link, to see the horror we have wrought upon the Iraqi people. Look at all the pictures from within the hospitals. You will never see an IV, a heart monitor, a blood pressure machine, nada, nothing. According to the Geneva Convention, it is the responsibility of the occupying power to provide adequate health care to the people you are occupying. Instead Bu$h's pals with the no bid private contracts, are stuffing the money in their pockets and committing genocide in the process.

Saddam was a terrible dictator, but he was no where near as bad as Bu$h is turning out to be.

1. False initial premise: * has not spent 1B in Iraq. He extracted 1B from us
every week and gave a "tranfer" payment to contractors.

3. let me see if I get this straight
Edited on Sat Jul-10-04 06:12 PM by Marianne
we invaded a country, and bombed it to bits, maiming and killing thousands of people, children included.

before that, we kept up some wicked, inhuman sanctions on that same country, causing the deaths of innumerous babies and children.

We have maimed so many of those innocent citizens that the mantra that Saddam gassed his own people, is diminished as a propaganda tool, compared to what we did.

We , in our own country have at least 40 million who have NO health care at all. and that includes many children
]
and here we are, trying to give those we bombed, health care.

I tell ya this entire situation is all cheneyed up

4. Why are we bombing
innocent people in the first place?

Saddam and the Iraqi government were easily toppled. We've been there almost a year and a half. There were no WMD's. WTF are we still bombing?

In the meantime, since we are the ones that are inflicting these horrible injuries on these people, isn't it the least we can do to try to patch them up again, if they survive the initial insult?

7. some of us ask these questions that seem to have become embarrassing

to many others. The bombing with thousand pound bombs over a period ot three or more days, and the resultant deaths of an estimated ten thousand innocents is not much mentioned by anyone here.

It simply is the elephant in the living room that no one recognizes,

It is too embarrasing. We murdered ten thousand innocent people.

and now, we see Halliburton raking in the very lucrative profits,. Now we see the hiring of mercenaries to protect what the corporations rushed in to secure in their greed as their poster boy Bush took us into that slaughter in order to deliver to those who contributed to his coup.

Something about this certainly tugs at our moral parameters, At least those of us who still have some semblance of a conscience.

Unlike our congress, who were feigning and playing a game with our children as the pawns, when they voted to give a stupid man, who is surrounded with those convicted felons l, his daddy was surrounded with in the first Gulf war, the blank check to do whatever he wanted and to invade whoever he wanted on fraudulent reasons and abject lies.

Can our elected representatie not recognize a moron, a retarded individual when they see one?

Today ,880 of our children are dead and they died on the lies of a smirking prick who had to steal an election and they died for nothing but the coward Bush's desires to control the ME so the business buddies could establish themselves as the big guys in the oil field of Iraq. Saddam had something they coveted and since we had the great big military and he did not,and since the UN told us he did not have a thing, we saw fit to go in, kill thousands of innocents andchildren anbd babies, in order to get what Bush and his businees buddies, his contributors wwanted and may have even demanded.

This has been one of the saddest, perhaps the very saddest event in our history because we have obviously regressed and become barbarians under this evil man Bush who was never legally elected, and invented a new reason to invade a small country, or for that matter any small country and it is called pre ventive or pre emptive and whatever it is called a stupid, emotionly adolescent son of a previous failed president, has proven he is even more stupid than his failed father. And the spin it that all of these countries that are snmall and that are easily invaded and coquored, are harboring terrorists.

Ugh--we , in this bullying and this arrogance have caused MORE terrorism than ever before. Bush is a real jerk or is he. He loves this fear that can be imposed upon a great majority of people. He loves it that he, the great George Bush, is in control over millions of people. He loves that he can control the photos of the caskets comeing home with the flag draped over it, by simply commanding that NO media shall photograph them because, they are not to be given the honor they deserve because a stupid mand is AFRAID that they in their deaths and they in their flag drapped coffins wil somehow affect his, HIS the Bush, chances at being elected for another four years.

Shame on America.
We are corrupt. We will need a long time to heal anbd to patch over the wounds we have suffered under this evil man, this ignorant man this sociopath.

These pictures make me want to scream, cry, throw up, and become even more active. Robert Fisk is a true hero.
