Terror Alert Based On "Years" Old Intelligence - Bush Wags The Dog Again
www.drudgereport.com

Headline on sludge. Going to be page 1 in tommorow's NYT.

Is someone going to stop Bush from doing this to our country? What will it take? Arresting him for treason?

21. Scarborough, surprisingly, said to be skeptical
it was refreshing to hear from him. He said 4 factors leads one to be skeptical of this new alert: 1) it's a close race, and 2) bush is ahead in 'ability to fight terrorism', and 2 others which I forget, but the first 2 are enough for me. He started his spiel with a note to the media: trust, but verify. He must feel burned by the WMD issue.

13. The "Baker Act" for non-Floridians ...
The intent or purpose of the Baker Act (394.453), also known as the Mental Health Act ...

The Baker Act is intended to:
* create due process procedures for patients who are facing voluntary or involuntary placement / commitment
* create a bill of rights for mental health patients
* insure that the least restrictive means of treatment is used
* authorize the Department of Children and Family Services to recommend programs to the Governor and Legislature to reduce the occurrence, severity, and duration of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.

3. Nope--apparently no one will
not even the oppostion party. and so he will continue to lie and lie without a single challenge--and these lies are believed by those people who are only a few percentage points behing Kerry.

No one challenges these lies. He is deliberately scaring his own people and keeping them in perpetual fear. How many will suffer ill health because of his lies? HE does not care. He should be put into the stocks and left there for a week in the middle of the DC mall for all the tourists to mock and sneer at him

He is a despicable liar and he is truly insane.

17. I appreciate your punishment, but I doubt “insanity” meets the crime.

If he is insane or mentally challenged, he should not be subjected to the public abuse you prescribe. And likewise, he should not be holding a public office like POTUS.

I contend that he is fully aware of his actions and doesn’t give a hoot about the consequences in the real world. He claims to circumvent that reality with the cover of conversations with God and His direct endorsement.

Uh-oh.

He’s nuttier than a squirrel. Damn it. I wanted to prove him sane so we could publicly humiliate him, but we can’t. He must be medicated and put away into a rubberized ranch with the rest of his neo-con friends.

Reports That Led to Terror Alert Were Years Old, Officials Say

August 3, 2004

WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 -Much of the information that led the authorities to raise the terror alert at several large financial institutions in the New York City and Washington areas was three or four years old, intelligence and law enforcement officials said on Monday. They reported that they had not yet found concrete evidence that a terror plot or preparatory surveillance operations were still under way.

But the officials continued to regard the information as significant and troubling because the reconnaissance already conducted has provided Al Qaeda with the knowledge necessary to carry out attacks against the sites in Manhattan, Washington and Newark. They said Al Qaeda had often struck years after its operatives began surveillance of an intended target.

WASH POST Page One: Alerts Stemmed from Pre-9/11 Acts /// 'There is nothing right now that we're hearing that is new,' said one senior law enforcement official who was briefed on the alert. 'Why did we go to this level?... I still don't know that'... POST: 'Most of the information was compiled prior to the Sept. 11 attacks and that there are serious doubts about the age of other, undated files'...

20. I hear there is a fleet steaming for Pearl Harbor
Sure, it is based on "old information" but you can't be too careful. Everyone in Hawaii should be on the alert, and very terrified too. While you're at it, vote for the BFEE.

22. I wonder, what was the COST of this publicity stunt to small biz, police and
other government agencies, corporations, commuters stuck in extra-slow traffic, etc.

Did first responders know they were being asked to go on high alert based on info from before September 2001? Did businesses who lost days of sales because their trucks couldn't get though the Holland Tunnel know they were being played? Did the restaurants around the closed food court at Citibank Tower know?

Many people who've paid a high price so Dubya could look "Presidential" and hold a five-minute "press conference" will be surprised. They're not going to be happy when they find out. I bet Howard Dean and MoveOn will let them know and really pound this incident into voters' consciousnesses.
