U.S. Marine killed in action in volatile Iraq region
By The Associated Press

BAGHDAD, Iraq — A U.S. Marine was killed in action today in Anbar province, a volatile, Sunni-dominated region west of Baghdad that includes Fallujah, Ramadi and Qaim on the border of Syria.

The region has been a center of anti-U.S. resistance.

The name of the Marine, assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, was withheld pending notification of family members, the military said. No details were released.

The death brought to 913 the number of U.S. service members who have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq in March 2003, according to the Defense Department.

2. Yesterday on Democracy Now! I listened to a speech given by Lila Lipscomb,
the mother of a 26 year old soldier killed in Iraq, to the national convention of Peace Action.

George W. Bush ought to be made to listen to Lila Lipscomb. She speaks for the moms of all those killed in action in Iraq and she speaks, as well, for all of us who are opposed to the war in Iraq.

that most of EyeRack is fine, but only a few regions are "center of anti-U.S. resistance".
