SENECA — Local delegates recently returned from last week’s Democratic National Convention in Boston, and brought back bumper stickers, buttons and bundles of energy — finds they were eager to share with their fellow Democrats Monday night at a meeting of the Oconee County Democratic Party.
"The energy level there — we’ve got political support like I’ve never seen," delegate David Vandiver announced to a standing-room only crowd at the Shaver Recreation Complex.
"We’re fixing to run these guys out of town," he told his fellow Democrats, adding that continued local support can only help the cause in South Carolina.
More than 70 county residents from Fair Play to Seneca showed up for the regularly scheduled monthly meeting, proclaiming their devotion to the Democratic Party line and their optimism that a John Kerry-John Edwards ticket would succeed, not just in the county and in the state, but nationwide.
