NORWALK, Conn. (AP) - Abortion opponents allege state police violated their civil rights by stopping them on a highway and arresting a passenger, but officers said Tuesday they stopped the group because their slow-moving vehicle created a traffic hazard with a display of photos of aborted fetuses.
The American Family Association Center for Law and Policy, which is representing the demonstrators, demanded an investigation into last Thursday's incident and said it plans to file a lawsuit.
``It appears that Connecticut has taken a page from Wyatt Earp's play book,'' said Brian Fahling, an attorney for the activists.
State police said they had not received a complaint but would investigate if requested. They denied the stop and arrest were politically motivated.
