Ridge Defends New Terror Threat Warning

By KATHERINE PFLEGER SHRADER, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge on Tuesday defended the decision to tighten security in New York and Washington even though the intelligence behind the latest terror warnings was as much as four years old.

Law enforcement officials were trying to determine whether the plot was current, with terrorists still trying to organize such an attack — in an investigation made more urgent by revelations linking the suspect behind the intelligence with the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in east Africa.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we already HAVE an attack against New York financial centers and Washington? I thought I remembered when the 9/11 hijackers flew planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon? Who do they think they're kidding! This seems like they're admitting that they had the intel, but failed to act then!

Appears to be a story about the same news event reported in this thread, however.

3. And where they suck...
... defense is not the strong suit for this GOP. For years they've been lame when on the defense (see Helmet Hair) And Chimpy is even worse.

Remember when Dean had him on the ropes during the primaries? Chimpy was looking like he was totally unglued...

We have to keep these bastards on the defense!

4. what is indefensible is that he's already politicized the office
Tom Ridge has already demonstrated that Homeland Security is a partisan office that will allow itself to be used for political influence. How reassuring for the American people.

5. This Reptile Ridge, Mr. Mithras
Is a political hack of the most servile water.

He made it clear in his own announcement of this trumped up "warning" that it was nothing but a seizure of "free media" for the Republican campaign when he concluded by stating the information was the result of White House "leadership".

This whole thing is a political fraud of the lowest and most transparent order.

"Panic-mongers and defeatist are to be shot."

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"
