Suspicious Letter Found At Brentwood Post Office
White Powder Sent For Analysis

WASHINGTON -- A letter addressed to presidential candidate John Kerry was discovered leaking white powder during processing at the Brentwood post office in Northeast.

The letter was discovered Wednesday but authorities said they had minimal health and safety concerns. That's because all mail that comes into the Brentwood post office, which has been renamed in honor of two employees who died of anthrax, is irradiated to kill anthrax.

News4's Jackie Bensen reported that the circumstances under which the letter came to the attention of the D.C. fire department's hazardous materials team are described as unusual.

A fire department spokesman said the mail processor who came across the envelope took it home with him Wednesday. Authorities were called Thursday after the employee spoke with his supervisor.

2. Al Queda Wants Bush To Win
He is great for recruiting.

You just know that Saudi Arabia & Pakistan (countries with large terrorist bases who claim to be our friends and partners in the war on terror) will do another crack down (as in "round up the usual suspects") right before the election & have some arrests to make Dubya look good.

6. Why did the mail processor "take the letter home" on Wednesday?
Chain of custody is a little broken, no?

8. Yes, see how security has improved?
This from the Post Office which had seen anthrax letters before and was shut down for months for decontamination! I can see all the $$$$$$ spent on Homeland Security is working so well... hell, aren't you glad someone didn't mail a friggin' bomb via Brentwood? Methinks something is terribly wrong when post office employees -- particularly those working in a station where all the mail is handled for the govt -- haven't a friggin' clue what to do with a suspicious letter addressed to a presidential candidate. Perhaps that's the real story here, because someone sure as hell ought to be fired!

Yep, we're safer now, folks. Sheesh!

7. Would seem to make no effing sense to take a possibly tainted

12. Every Postal Employee Knows
that, if you take a piece of mail off Postal premises, it is considered felony theft and is grounds for dismissal and Federal prosecution, even if the said piece is addressed to them. No employee is stupid enough to do this unless he or she has criminal intent.

This story stinks to high heaven.
