Breaking: ANOTHER private plane crash in Texas
Edited on Sat Aug-07-04 11:01 PM by Dover
Just heard it on the t.v. I think it said two people dead. Happened in far northwestern Burnet County near the Lampasas/Burnet county line (northwest of Austin). There is a small airport in Burnet.
No link just yet.

This makes the FOURTH private plane crash in Texas in a WEEK, all with fatalities.

Edited on Sat Aug-07-04 10:50 PM by DS1
As long as the Paramedics know what they're doing, I don't care if the ambulance that pulls up to help me is blasting Rush Limbaugh and Wagner's Ride of the Valkeries over the Public Address system as it pulls up.

14. No shit...
I had a go cart wreck a couple of years ago. I pulled myself out of t he river, two miles from the nearest road, with a broken tib-fib, and prayed for rescue. My kid called 911, and I KNOW that some of the paramedics and rescue team were Republicans. I didn't care who they were, politically. They were angels to me.

I don't know if they were Republicans or Democrats, though.

What is WRONG with you people?

15. Okay, I have to answer this one for several reasons. First the crash is
about ten miles or less from my home and because I had 4 family members (Texans, but killed in Arkansas) killed in a small plane accident. Two children and their parents. The father and pilot was a surgeon. They all died and did not deserve to as I am sure these folks didn't either. Do any of you have people that you love? Hatred of strangers because of their background or politics is called PREJUDICE and does not serve us or our affiliations as Dems well at all. Shame and more shame on those that are so full of hate for other humans that they do not even KNOW!!!

17. Nope, I live in Lampasas and I just got back from the ranch about 9.
But according to the description, the crash is very close to the Lampsas/Burnet county line. Is it known where the flight originated?.

24. Not why I asked.
I once did an informal chart of political small plane deaths. Just from the internet and probably I missed a lot that would have changed the way it looked, because the way it looked startled the hell out of me.

Except for one four year period, all the political small plane deaths were Democrats. During that anomalous 4 year period, they were all Republicans. It was the 4 years that Poppy was president.

I found it odd. That's why I asked.

22. I'm a Texan pilot from Austin
and your comment is flat out bullshit. Why don't you learn how to fly a plane before you criticize somebody who just died.

19. As an aside, my daughter saw him in Austin yesterday at the fund raiser
for Kerry and said he was great, although they were outside and it was steaming hot. I don't know where he went from there. I doubt that he is still in Austin but could certainly be wrong.

Burnet, Texas -- Two people died when a single-engine plane crashed and burst into flames in rural Hill Country this evening. That's what a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration says.

The Piper PA 32 crashed in northwestern Burnet County after dropping off of radar at an FAA facility. That's according to John Clabes, an FAA spokesman for the southwest region.

Clabes says it is believed that the aircraft was headed for Lubbock.

That's a good plane :(

This run of aviation accidents is kind of worrying. I wonder how this one happened. The one in Lakeway appeared to be pilot error of some kind.

-- On edit, it could also have been an older Cherokee model.

Breaks my heart. Reminds me, as I said in the last thread about this kinda tragedy, how earlier this year three family friends were killed in a small plane crash 'round the Georgia and South Carolina area comin' back from the Master's. The father and his sons...father'd been flying for about 10 years I think...sons had wives and children and more ahead of 'em...dang sad thing I tell ya.

26. Not only were there two small children killed in last week's crash
Edited on Sun Aug-08-04 04:46 AM by janeaustin
at Lakeway, but the writeup in the paper here described their mother as gentle and loving in her child-rearing methods and interested in philosophy, literature and science.

She and their father were killed in the wreck, along with the pilot and their business partner who was eager to get back to Oklahoma City to his wife and children.

Sounds like a great loss all the way around, to me, and my prayers go out to all who loved them.

29. I imagine Alaska has its share of incidents too.
I see this as more an indication of a large number of private planes in the air at any given time. While I am not a pilot, - thought i did take ground school training once. I never pass up an opportuntiy to go for a ride in someone's Cessna and believe most pilots are prudent and disciplined.

I am sorry to learn about this. My thoughts will be with the families.
