Edinburgh gears up for festival

Visitor numbers to Edinburgh swell during the festival
Thousands of festival-goers will descend on the Scottish capital this weekend as the 58th Edinburgh Fringe Festival gets under way.
This year's three-week programme offers more than 1,700 shows across the spectrum of the performing arts.

There will be around 25,000 individual performances and it is hoped more than one million tickets will be sold.

As well as the usual venues, more unusual places to catch a show are an Indian restaurant and a sports car.

"The Fringe will also feature a political satire called Guantanamo Baywatch. "

(The US has become the laughing stock of political satirists, apprently)

1. I would love to go. I have the Military Tattoo videos going back years.
Last time I was in Edinburgh, it was a different world. :)

2. I lived there for three years
I liked the festival and the beer mostly. I also liked using the Commonwealth Swimming pool and Commonwealth sports stadium, and going for walks down in Lieth. That was back when America was respected, not mocked as it is now.

3. Ah, yes. Sitting and drinking single malt on Princes Street ...
... in a 2nd floor lounge and gazing out at the castle all alit in the evening. Those were the days.
