Al Qaeda's Pre-Election Plot
Edited on Sun Aug-08-04 10:08 AM by Maestro
I am sorry but this is just so transparent. Repukes talk up the terror to play the almighty defender card...Scare tactics are what they have resorted to.

Need to change title to what article states or your thread will be locked :/

That would read: Al Qaeda's Pre-Election Plot... I think.. ! :hi:

<snipped from original linked story>
It's called the president's Daily Threat Report (PDTR), or, in bureaucratic shorthand, the Putter. The document is so secret that only about a half-dozen people in the U.S. government are allowed to see it. When the Putter contains especially sensitive information, a red stripe runs down the side. At 6:40 a.m. on Friday, July 30, Fran Townsend, the president's homeland-security adviser and counterterror chief for the national-security staff, opened up her red-striped Putter and received a jolt.

NOTE: Bold-face type mine for emphasis

2. Scare tactics are all
that they have. An attack might backfire as it would show that they really didn't protect us and we need someone else to do the job. Of course that's logical.

6. Exactly
The attempt to imply any significance between a terrorist attack and election day, to me, might indicate more strongly that this is a desparate ploy to hold on to power by the * administration. Do terrorists really give a good shit who is president? Disrupting the election by catastrophic event would certainly prove to be more difficult than just a plain old car bombing of any significant target during a time where security is not at it's highest. They want to kill us ALL, not just members of certain political leanings.

I think retaining * would be partially counter-productive from a terrorist point of view. If they want Americans out of Iraq, wouldn't they realize the chances of that happening are greatly improved if JK is elected? Of course, there is the argument that * is an incompetent ass who couldn't find his winkie with the help of a crack team of investigative journalists, but he isn't hunting mad bombers all by himself. Not a good argument. The only reason I can imagine that the election outcome might be important to al Queida, is if they realize * has significantly weakened our economy and will continue to 'soften' their target with a second term. What do you think?

7. Bush * couldn't be better
for them so yes they would love another four years. Not only has he weakened the economy he instill the fear which is what they want, that's what terrorism is all about.

12. Not Only
why would al-Qaeda care, but why would they think they can predict which way a terror attack would throw the election. I think an argument could be made both that it would help Bush (really, really, scaring people) or it would hurt him (people think he's botched the "homeland" defense job). This isn't the same situation as Spain

11. I hope scare tactics are not enough
but America still sits rather stupified as to the reality that surrounds her.

"'They' hate America? How could they hate us we represent FREEDOM!?" is the cry of the lower class...

And the small voice of the intelligensia says..."This is CRAZY!!!"

This won't change until some large body...the Congress? the International Court?. . . decides to hold some people accountable.

As I look out the window I see...no signs of that.

4. If the government knew that these operatives
were operating and meeting in the wilds of Afghanistan and Pakistan, why are we tied up in Iraq? Oh wait, I remember, Saddam is a much bigger threat with all those nukes and chemical weapons. This admin's priorities are all screwed up. So if they actually do attack, then they are to blame because of their stupid little imperialistic campaign in Iraq.

5. Didn't work in Spain after the bombings; not gonna work here
If there is a terror attack between now and November, Faux News may as well run a giant graphic saying, "BUSH SUCKS!", because that really is the first thought that will cross everyone's mind.

9. I don't even pay any attention to this anymore
I have enough to worry about without having to deal with AL TERROR ALL THE TIME on the news. Why can't the government just do their best to stop an attack, and if we are attacked then find the bastards and kick the shit out of them. Leave me alone!
