Sadr Aide Says Iraqi PM "Acting Like Saddam"
BAGHDAD, Aug 8 (AFP)

A Baghdad-based aide to Moqtada Sadr accused Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi on Sunday of acting like former dictator Saddam Hussein and wanting to eliminate the radical Shiite Muslim cleric and his movement.

"Iyad Allawi was acting like Saddam the dictator when he went to Najaf today," Sheikh Abdul Hadi al-Darraji told AFP by telephone from his base in the cleric`s northeast Baghdad stronghold of Sadr City.

"He praised the governor there for orchestrating the first episode of Najaf`s destruction and gave the green light for the next operation." ..

"Allawi has shown his true colours. He is determined to eliminate Sayed Moqtada and the movement he represents," said Darraji, using a religious honorific.

He said Sadr is currently inside Najaf and that his supporters throughout Iraq were determined to defend him. ..

1. And how long before we are losing military personnel in the effort
to remove this one of our hand picked leaders?

2. Allawi is showing that he's the same thug that helped Saddam into
power. He offers no solution to the problems facing Iraq right now. All he is doing is exactly what Saddam did when he took over Iraq.

I don't purpose that I have the solution to this problem. I can't even come up with an idea that would appease the Iraqi people and allow this government to remain in power. So when Kerry is elected, he is going to inherit one hell of an ugly mess.

Yes, but because Kerry isn't the one who did the invading, and will have a different approach I think things can only get better once Bush is gone.

3. But, but, but
Who in the world can argue that the Iraqis aren't better off without Saddam?

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

5. Just because
Just because things have changed doesn't mean that it is any different.

4. I find myself agreeing with Moqtada al Sadr
Iyad Allawi shows every sign of becoming a dictator. Let's hope the Iraqis won't let him. Even if he succeeds in eliminating al Sadr and his movement, other Shiites will take over the fight, and in the end they will win. It sure looks like Allawi doesn't mind a war that goes on for many years, just like Bush.
