Laura Bush targets female business owners in Mn. (Invitation only)
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP)

First lady Laura Bush will visit a quilt shop in Waite Park on Tuesday as part of a one-day campaign swing through Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.

The invitation-only event at Gruber's Quilt Shop is designed to rally the traditional Republican base of support. ..

Democrats say Laura Bush's visit shows the GOP is concerned about Kennedy's re-election campaign. He's running against St. Joseph resident Patty Wetterling. Democrats are also chiding the invitation-only nature of the event.

2. Too bad she's not doing the same here in Seattle
This female small business owner has a few choice words for her.:grr:

Of course, I wouldn't be invited. I suppose they don't usually ask socialist-leaning, foul-mouthed vixens to such things. ;)

10. Being from this area I would
love to see the invitation list. I would bet that most of the invitees are co-owners of businesses with husbands or are executives with banks etc.

I won't be shopping at this shop again nor will my quilting sisters, mother, daughter, friends, etc.

11. Many whose husbands set them up; they show net losses.;
Comes in handy at tax time to offset hubby's stock options/ exorbitant salaries. They run little craft operations; specialty botiques, etc. I mean really, I have several quilters in my family and NO ONE can make a living at it. They all have other sources of income or full time jobs.

15. Talk about snobbish and afraid!!!
INVITATION ONLY!!! Really stepping over the line here! In other words, the citizens who pay their salaries and bills, etc., can't see them without invitations!

How quaint! They must think they are royalty and don't want to smell the stench or touch the foul flesh of the cannon fodder that dies to them daily trying to keep this country afloat!

Disgusting to the umpth degree!!! Pathetic little people parading around as important!

16. They're aiming at traditionalists:

<snip> Gruber's Retreat Center is in full swing! You can shop and sew all day and all night! <snip> Large and small sewing rooms can be rented out for day meetings or gatherings, depending on availability. <snip> Our Retreat Center is divided into two areas, each consisting of a sewing room and sleeping rooms.<snip>

As for husbands, boyfriends or most men in general: Gander Mountain, Shields Sport Center, Menards and The Home Depot are all within a few blocks.

Just wondering....why would anyone want to hear her thoughts (if that's what they can be called)?
