Republicans Still Trying to Replicant Dems' Blog Fundraising Success
MarketingVOX News

It seems to bug Republican bloggers that the Democrats have been using their blogs to such effect in fundraising. Some are trying to even the score with RedState.org, a group sort of like a Republican MoveOn.org that tries to throw readers to specific sites regarding tight races, where they can presumably throw their support to the right-leaning candidate. It raised $1,000 for its first chosen candidate and isn't likely to blow the doors off Democrat online ad campaigns anytime soon.

Typically, Republican campaign financers have been few in number but high in average donation in the past few decades. When unions are left out of the equation, Democrat campaign financers have tended to be more numerous and smaller donors. ..

1. It can't work because their funding doesn't come from the masses
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 09:36 AM by Dover
GOP money comes from a select group of RICH people and corporations who prefer greasing palms to fingering keyboards. And their low income rural constituency is now too poor!

2. Does anyone know whether this is true?
I had always understood that Dems had less access to small donations since they had a weak mail fundraising operation. What's happened in this cycle is astounding since Dems have more fundraising from small donors. Much of this is from the internet but I think Kerry is getting much from small donors.

That's my interpretation but this article implies that Dems were always better at getting small donations.

4. One of the things I have loved about this campaign
is the way the small donations have mounted up. It just felt so "American" that the little guys were banding together and giving the big guys a run for their money. Whether or not Bush supporters are ready to donate this way remains to be seen. Probably they will, but after listening to Bush brag about how much he had raised for so long, maybe not.

6. Blogs equate with literacy.
In order to find information on a blog you have to have access to a computer, know how to turn it on, how to access the internet, how to locate a particular site, how to read the information on that site, and how to use that site to reference any additional urls the blogger suggests would be of interest.

There are a hell of a lot of repuke dumbassses out there who are incapable or unwilling to do any or all of the above. They'd rather listen to Rush and watch FAUX. If they do make it onto the net, they are likely to end up at FR with a bunch of other sick nutjobs. They are ultimately more interested in bitching about Clinton than actually financially supporting any repukes. They leave that to the chimp's base "the haves and have mores."

8. Also Have To Have A Blog There THAT'S WORTH VISITING, NO?
I mean the blogs like MoveOn.org are worthwhile, inventive and the product of a creatively talented individual. Same as Democratic Underground.

Methinks the FarRight are not as creative or as able to present info in a form other than blatant propaganda.

7. They could try having some ideas
that people are excited about. If I recall, John McCain, a Republican, was the first to have notable success with online fund raising during his presidential primary campaign in 2000. He had some really good ideas about campaign finance reform that people on both sides of the political divide were excited about. I, a lifelong Democrat, perused his site very carefully. In the end, I would have voted for Gore in the general election, had it been Gore vs. McCain, but the fact that I would even consider voting for a Republican is notable.

This cycle, the dems are the only ones presenting new ideas. If the repugs want to get donations from the people, try having some ideas that benefit the people instead of big business and the far right religious nut jobs.

9. They think it's already taken care of
The news has always said the pugs were way ahead in fundraising. So all the Republican "little guys" just figure someone else is paying. So why should they?
