U.S. says five American soldiers killed in fighting in Iraqi city of Najaf
This is from the news flash reported from Haaretz, which is usually correct...

They are fighting for their freedom, it's a lost cause. We will continue to lose lives there and so will they.

7. It will only get worse. I feel there will be total chaos
before much longer and we will have no choice but to retreat. Shrub can say stay the course as long as he wants, but fortitude for the wrong reason doesn't look good from the barrel of a gun.

4. Lunaville has 931, so this makes it 936!
At this rate it will be over 1000 before the election!

At least I heard Kerry's position is morphing. Thanks for small wonders.

RIP soldiers.

13. Long before then I'd think
but the reaction to 1000 dead is what's going to be interesting. Do people sit up and take notice, or, just go on with their lives with a nothing to see here attitude.

14. RIP, young men and women
Meanwhile, your "commander-in-chief" won't lose a wink's sleep -- too busy having fun in the bass boat.

My heart goes out to the families whose children, parents and spouses have just become another tally number in Bush's damnable war.

Meanwhile, our young people are getting blown to smithereens for the Bush/Cheney pocketbooks.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5455104/

<snip>

Five U.S. troops have been killed in Najaf, according to the military, and the U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said 19 others had been wounded. He said four Iraqi national guardsmen also had been killed and 12 others had been wounded.

<snip>

It's not really clear if they mean today.
