Kerry to address V-F-W
Edited on Tue Aug-10-04 11:29 AM by JI7
not good news for Bush that their top priority is health care. Bush probably wishes it was something like a flag burning amendment or some other wedge issue that has nothing to do with daily lives of most americans. and i think stem cell research would be big with this crowd.

<CINCINNATI John Kerry will address the national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Cincinnati next week.

The gathering is expected to draw at least 12-thousand people. The delegates represent two and a-half (m) million fellow V-F-W members -- and the interests of another 25 (m) million veterans.

The V-F-W says it does not endorse presidential candidates, but it does expect them to address what it says is the veterans' top priority: health care.

In recent weeks, the Kerry campaign has expanded efforts to underscore the Massachusetts senator's military service in Vietnam.

The V-F-W also invited President Bush to the convention and is waiting for a response. The Bush campaign says it has no information on whether the president has accepted.>

3. Has Bush spoken to any group
where unscripted questions were allowed other than when he screwed up with the sovereignty answer? That is not sarcasm, I really don't know if he has.

10. Bush Addressed Unity Conference Day After Kerry
W addressed the Unity conference of journalists of color that included Black, Native American, Latino and Asian reporters and editors. Conference drew 7,000 attendees.

Kerry received a standing ovation at the end of his presentation and handled questions adroitly. Bush seems to have had a chip on his shoulder, at least in answering one journalists questions about quotas and legacy admissions to universities.

You have but to listen to the reception both men received when they were introduced. Bush received polite applause, Kerry was greeted with cheers.

Both presentations are available on CSpan.

7. Like there's even a remote chance Bush won't go, too.
Shrubby and his sycophants will be there. Hard to understand what he can possibly say on the health care front that could trump JK. But I'm sure he'll mutter some words and a lot of vets will think he's heroic.

9. Kerry is a VFW member. Bush isn't eligible unless.........
those wars he fought "overseas" in Mexico fighting off Spanish Flies on behalf of Texas make him eligible.

Also, according to their website you need to show a DD214 from the military in order to get in. No way Bush will ever release a DD214.
