Tom Ridge Checks Out (Iowa State)Fair Security
http://www.theiowachannel.com/politics/3642048/detail.html

<snip>
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge is in Iowa Wednesday.

He'll review security measures at the Iowa State Fairgrounds -- where the State Fair begins Thursday -- and then speak at a downtown business.

More than one million visitors are expected to attend the State Fair between Aug. 12 and Aug. 22.

Ridge's visit comes just a day after Vice President Dick Cheney's campaign rally in Clive -- and just two days before President George W. Bush himself visits Sioux City.

<snip>

Thought this was interesting, this is not supposed to be a political visit but everyone knows that it is. Democratic leader in Iowa said (not quoting) -strange that he should come see security since funding just got cut by $100,000. If he cared he would fight for security to be funded.-

5. My guess is that Ridge will concentrate his security searches
to battleground states.

6. I grew up in Iowa. I've been to the Iowa State Fair.
It's a terrorists dream.

Do you know the damage that could be caused by an exploding butter cow? Do you?

And if just one of those prize hog's testicles explodes, then it's all over.

The one consolation is the possibility of the destruction occurring on August 19th. Nickleback is playing the Grandstand. That wouldn't be so bad...
