10,000-plus expected for Kerry PDX rally; Bush visit more elusive
By kgw. com and AP Staff

When John Kerry rolls into Portland on Friday, anyone who wants to hear the Democratic presidential hopeful can head to downtown Portland's Waterfront Park.

But those hoping to listen to President Bush on the same day in Portland will have to volunteer to work phone banks for the GOP campaign. Oregon Republicans said they want to reward their volunteers. Rocker Jon Bon Jovi will perform and actor Leonardo DiCaprio also is scheduled to appear at Kerry's Waterfront Park rally that is expected to draw a crowd in the tens of thousands. ..

Kerry's visit to Portland will Friday will coincide with a same-day visit by President Bush to Portland to attend a campaign- sponsored business roundtable event at 12:15 p.m. at an undisclosed location. ..

Portland was very unfriendly for papa bush too. I'm proud to have been arrested at an anti-bush rally. Met some interesting 'terrorists' on the 'inside'.

2. My, the contrast..
It really is amazing the Media says virtually nothing about this. This is the only reason why Kerry gets heckled at his rally's and Bush doesn't. Kerry invites the entire public to come and hear him speak, while Bush pre-screens everyone and makes them sign "loyalty oathes". Why isn't this a major scandal or at least talking point on every cable talk show, etc.?

Oh yeah, how silly of me... SCLM strikes again!

3. Trust me, Kerry hecklers will not survive at this rally.
I hope they let us in with our video equipment. Portlanders are generally well informed people. They know what damson's crowd of thugs does to hecklers. The favor will be returned en mass if our Eugene gang has to do it ourselves.

6. Reservations for 7 vegetarians at the Multnomah Co jail!
Last time there were so many protesters arrested, they had to send them to Inverness lock-up. I'm going with her this time, if need be.

It's is a sure thing, hecklers will be in big trouble in this crowd.

5. "Freedom Through Work" - Sign at entrance of Dachau
Dachau is a heartbreaking reminder of what can happen when the responsible citizens of a country are not vigilant about keeping their government in check. Officially, Dachau was designated as a "work camp" and its entrance gate was marked with the cruel inscription "Freedom through Work." Those who entered this gate knew there was no freedom from this place. During the 12 years of its existence, Dachau's electrified barbed wire fences held in some 206,000 prisoners - Jews, gypsies, homosexuals and anyone who dared to speak out against the Nazi Party, including intellectuals and writers.

8. Bush is sneaking in under cover of Kerry PR?
Is he thinking...er, is someone in his campaign thinking he won't draw so many protesters if they have something better to do!

10. Boy sure seems that Bush is getting along with the little people!
I guess he feels that meet with the business people will have some effect on the little people. Thinking that they will be able to controll the little.
