Iraq 'ended nuclear aims in 1991' (BBC)
As seen on the liberal alternative to Drudge, http://rawstory.com

No banned weapons have been found despite intensive searches
The head of Iraq's nuclear programme under Saddam Hussein has said Iraq destroyed its nuclear weapons programme in 1991 and never restarted it.

Jafar Dhia Jafar told the BBC sanctions and inspections worked in stopping the reconstitution of the programme.

He also said Iraq's chemical and biological weapons programmes were destroyed after the first Gulf War and never reactivated.

Mr Jafar ran Iraq's nuclear programme for nearly 25 years.

One of the most powerful arguments in the case for war on Iraq was the US and UK's claim Saddam Hussein was trying to restart his nuclear programme.

2. This story has now been picked up by Reuters and ABC News
Jafar, called the father of Iraq's nuclear bomb program, said Saddam could have used biological and chemical weapons in the 1991 Gulf War but chose not to.

"They were not available in 2003 because they had been destroyed and the program was never reconstituted or reactivated, none of the programs," he said.

Now he says it when no one is paying any attention.

5. Well knock me over with a feather
and correct me if I'm wrong, but...I seem to recall an interview Hussein had with a well-known, highly respected newsperson just days before the war. Hussein said, 'we don't have them. come on in! bring your inspectors!' Then Bush comes on the TV live for all of the American people to witness him demanding Hussein disarm immediately or else. Then, well...you know the rest of the story.

6. Damn that BBC!
They're obviously trying to undermine the sanctity of the Empire. Did they learn nothing from the "sexed-up dossier" reporting and the dire retaliations that followed from the paws of The Poodle? Must more heads now roll?

Who do they think they are?

7. Quick Question
Wouldn't this also make Clinton look kind of bad? I know he never used the argument to invade Iraq, and no Amiercan lives were lost, but he was talking about Iraq having WMD's. The saving grace for Clinton is that he only did the air strick in retalliation for the weapons inspectors getting kicked out. But at least this is more ammo against Bush. But it just shows that in politics there i no good or bad party, it's a choice between the lesser of two evils. But I'm still glad to be a democrat.
